2 of Florida's top 3 leading scorers in their NC game are transfers from Iona and Belmont.
My theory is that the portal is the reason there were no Cinderellas in the tournament this year. Players that could have led a smaller program to a victory had already transferred to a bigger program.I think we are seeing the smaller schools become the AAA league for the larger schools for some talent. Kids come out of high school and lack the "stars" to go to a big school right away. Instead, they go to a smaller school, build some experience and brand, then look to port out to a larger school for $$.
Good point. Hadn't really thought of that.My theory is that the portal is the reason there were no Cinderellas in the tournament this year. Players that could have led a smaller program to a victory had already transferred to a bigger program.
Lots of truth to this, tournament before the final 4 was mostly boring, the Final 4 was 3 really good games. As for small schools, if they can’t pay up they likely will win 1 game at most in future tournaments. My theory is that the portal is the reason there were no Cinderellas in the tournament this year. Agreed. Fla and Houston both struggled mightly in half court offense.Since this is a FYI thread. Hot take, none of this years final four teams could have stayed within 10 points of last years UConn or Purdue teams.
Edey would have DESTROYED Houston’s “bigs”.Agreed. Fla and Houston both struggled mightly in half court offense.
I wish we had played them last year to see how they would have defended himEdey would have DESTROYED Houston’s “bigs”.
and now we realize how these schools with an all senior team can be pretty good when playing free against GoliathI think we are seeing the smaller schools become the AAA league for the larger schools for some talent. I don't see how they can pay up. They need teams like Purdue to play them to make them some money...and once a player gets "good" he tests the market. It does seem to reason that teams like Purdue should they have a much easier schedule might allow more errors leading to growth in players, but then that schedule hurts you in Kenpom and quite possible if no ramp up...when entering Big play.Lots of truth to this, tournament before the final 4 was mostly boring, the Final 4 was 3 really good games. yep, he knew what would happen to the Ball States of the worldPainter predicted all of this
Where do teams like Butler fit???yep, he knew what would happen to the Ball States of the world
Interesting and discussing this with my sister a year or so ago she didn't know. The Big East I assume will have some TV package and share that and none of the Big East have football. If no or little TV revenue, the program will take a downward spiral I'm sure.Where do teams like Butler fit???
Not just a theory, reading a lot of press now that agrees and thinks going forward there will be no place for a Cinderella after the first round or two.My theory is that the portal is the reason there were no Cinderellas in the tournament this year. Ya the slipper is on the benches adding depth for the power teamsNot just a theory, reading a lot of press now that agrees and thinks going forward there will be no place for a Cinderella after the first round or two.

Seems like the ncaa is content to watch it all burn
Can’t or won’t or don’t want to?! 😂So they hold the same stance they have held for the last 25 or 30 years? Shocking.
Could have done something YEARS ago about NIL, but just stuck their fingers in their ears, "lalalalal" and then got smacked by a bunch of lawsuits and now can't do anything.
