OT - Brady Allen in Portal…

I like Allen, but there are some very good QBs out there in the Portal. Of course, are we going to spend up for that though is the question.
It’s too bad he followed Brohm, always seemed to have potential but never cracked 4th string at Louisville and totaled 1 pass for 7 yards in 2 years.
I've always marveled at how highly touted QBs come to Purdue and then fade into obscurity never being heard of again. So much for the supposed development of QBs.
We do well with the true diamonds in the rough and seem to get nothing out of the 4 stars.
Rickie Collins who committed to us 3-4 years ago and landed at LSU is back in the transfer portal as well. Seems unless you’re a big guy with $ attached to you, you might never even get a shot!
Think Allen is the only 4* we signed out of high school in 10-12 yrs. Davila may be a 4* but he was only a freshman this yr.
Who are the other 4* star QB’s we signed that flamed out?
I’ll still say not all star ratings are the same for some players. Maybe the highly rated guys Purdue gets are not all that in the first place. They don’t get many so it really looks bad when they don’t pan out. Alabama gets a lot of four star players that don’t work out, but they get so many it’s not that noticeable.
similar to that rising 3 star TE from Ill that verbal to us, then went to Bama and he's not even on their roster
Recruiting matters so little now that even signing day yesterday made little more sound than a thud at best here in SEC country.
