OT - $7 million for top 2025 player

If the advertising purchaser thinks it's worth 7m then it's worth it. The fans will like it either way.
I understand. Just saying how long until we see money revoked/incentives have to be hit to get that money?

I don’t want to sound old but it’s the wild Wild West with NIL and college sports is crazy. Then add the transfer portal…hopefully it doesn’t make Paint quit any time soon haha

At this point, it would be ideal for the NBA to just remove all age eligibility requirements. At least they’d soak up guys like this. What’s the point of forcing a non-pro year out of HS, if this is just going to happen?
Should have never been a thing anyway, if a kid at 18 can go to war why shouldn’t he be allowed to declare for the NBA? I understand football because of the strength and weight thing, basketball doesn’t make sense. Also, football should be 2 and done instead of 3.

It's the new world mess created by the NCAA. You might not like it or agree with it, but it's either get on board or you're gonna miss the train.

Let's be honest. The NCAA didn't create this mess because they don't have the power to control it.

The reality is....money controls everything. Take away the endorsement deals, spending power of such schools, which in return make the NCAA nothing but a title of an organization that controls nothing.

Take away the money, schools and lastly the athlete, and the NCAA has nothing.

100%. This was the conclusion of a legal matter. NCAA had to allow it.

At the end of the day, it comes down to fans supporting such a system. NIL was simply a vehicle that allowed pay for play. People pretending like this is actually an investment by the business that they expect a positive return on are clueless.

When fans stop watching and the money runs dry, that's when things might change. Until then, the athletes and college administrators are going to milk these idiot for all they can.

The courts have taken a lot away from the NCAA. Once NIL became a thing, the courts just keep giving the NCAA the middle finger over everything. Like punishment for not paying them beforehand.

BYU has money around them that I don't think people understand.
When you have a billionaire willing to throw whatever money to win, it certainly helps. Plus the church has A TON of money —but I’ve been assured they don’t use any of it for NIL…just send all their collections to their 100B portfolio (nothing to see here folks).

I wonder how that works legally for the church. Is it a charitable donation? How would taxes on it work? Mormons just out here shoveling out money for CBB and CFB.

I’m surprised the NBA doesn’t have a rule prohibiting owners from paying non-draft eligible players.

if you do a little research and visit some other sites, you will find that money did not come from BYU. That money came from two private sources. he would have received the same amount of NIL money no matter what school he chose.

I've said this over 100 times, players can make their own NIL deals. they are not dependent on the school for their NIL money.

My source ? the internet . go anywhere where they talk basketball, and put in his name and NIL after it and you'll find the truth. he already had received $4 mil of his NIL deal from Nike before he even chose to commit to any school. He also had a second lucrative NIL deal from a source outside of BYU. he could have signed anywhere and that money would be the same.

He chose BYU primarily because their entire coaching staff has connections to the NBA as prior coaches.
