The fact you cannot buy or sell college football teams doesn't have anything to do with the results. The values are based on a cash flow analysis just as you would do if you were analyzing a portion of a business to determine intrinsic value to determine a sale price. It shows how schools compare in the resources the football programs provide to their institutions.

I have to think a large portion of Purdue's value is tied to being in the B1G. The shared bowl revenue and the B1G Network money are two pipelines of automatic revenue that Purdue gets for simply fielding a team. Without those 2 things I would think they would be much further down the list (and it's not like they're that high up to begin with).
