First, I doubt many people are surprised by his decision.

Second, Purdue now has a legitimate all-conference contender in the front court regardless of what Caleb Swanigan decides. I'd still love to have Swanny back (doubt it will happen), but IMO Vince is more versatile and will be a great complement to Haas. Purdue won't be quite as imposing up front if Swanigan stays in the draft, but the offense will probably be more fluid than it was last year.

I can live with a front court of Haas, Edwards, Smotherman, and Taylor. There just won't be a whole lot of room for foul trouble.

I think that VE is going to have a huge, breakout season. He has all the tools and it looked like he was taking his game to the next level late last season.

We've been completely spoiled by NOT having to worry about foul trouble for two years.

However, having 3-4 (Taylor still has to prove) front court guys is "normal" - what we've had is NOT normal.

True that, lbodel.

I'm more relived about Edwards coming back than I'll be disappointed if Caleb Swanigan goes. Truth be told, if I had to pick one of them, I probably would pick Vince because of his versatility, offensive capabilities, and leadership potential.

Purdue might not have the massive rebounding advantage next year, but the front line should still be pretty good.

I agree that Jacquil Taylor still has to show that he can play ~10 credible minutes per game next year. He doesn't have to be dominant, but he does have to be a regular contributor.

I was surprised that Edwards was ranked above Swanigan on one NBA draft list. Edwards was in the same range as Troy Williams. It doesn't mean Swanigan or Williams will be back, but both seem to be waiting to see how much the field is going to thin out. If they move up to the low 60's, I can see them both leaving.

BTW, does anyone know the reason behind him wanting to go by "Vincent" now instead of "Vince"? I honestly don't know and just wondered if anyone else knew.

Maybe he wants to be a good pool player, as in Vincent AKA Tom Cruise in the Color Of Money, ok that was lame, just threw it out there

In one of the article's about his upbringing (his mom being his coach as a kid), it states that his family calls him Vincent.
