With Maryland and Northwestern both losing today, Purdue has clinched a double-bye in the BTT!
Hopefully, if things fall into place over the next few days, we can also be celebrating a Big Ten regular season title and the number 1 seed in the BTT! Boiler Up!

Bragging about conference championships (regular season or conference tourney) without deep March runs mean absolutely nothing anymore. Reality. Either Purdue proves it this year or the black hole begins again.

It may mean nothing to you, but it's meaningful to me. I can understand that if you don't pay attention to college basketball until March, you think everything prior to that is meaningless.

Deep March run, hmmm. What does that mean, final four? If that is your definition of deep you are going to be a disappointed fan(if not already). Win conference championship which hasn't been done in long time would be successful as a team and season going forward. Get to the second week in March is a start for this team and take from there. We're a really solid good team but not Nova. Thinking run tables winning 9 straight heading into DC for tourney wasn't realistic. Beat IU on Tuesday and see where you stand.

I was really hoping Northwestern would win last night.

With every loss they take the pressure builds for the finale at their place.

But maybe that's a good thing for Purdue.

Dumb.

Only in College basketball is 2nd, 3rd, and 4th considered some major accomplishment. Congrats and being the first loser.

Stevens take Butler to title game and lost to the exact same team as Purdue that year. So Purdue is less because of when they played Duke?

Pressure on them for sure. I like matchup better than yesterday at Chrisler for sure.

I don't know if its bragging, but winning the Big Ten regular season title as a fan is pretty cool and sure beats the alternative of finishing in the middle of the pack or worse. If it happens, I am looking forward to getting my Big Ten Champion T-Shirt to go along with my collection of Cubs' World Series Champions t-shirts! As far as success in March, I would say that means playing up to our potential and not under achieving! More specifically, I would say at least making it to the BTT final and making it out of the first weekend in the NCAAs! Anything beyond that is gravy in my opinion. Would love to win a sweet 16 game and at least make it to the Elite 8, but that may be hoping for too much! A final four would be absolutely phenomenal, but we would need to just play really great and have the right match-ups! As a fan, I am looking forward to the ride and hope that I won't be disappointed! Of the 68 teams, 67 teams end their season with a loss of course, so I try to be realistic when I can.

I have a White Sox World Series Champion T-shirt (2005). Plus, I have a Kansas City Royals one as well. Not all Purdue fans are Cubs fans.

Yeah, the White Sox winning in 2005 was pretty cool! I wasn't trying to insinuate that all Purdue fans are Cubs fans, but as a former Northsider, I just happen to be. I am not your fair-weather fan either. I have lived through thick and thin with the Cubs since I was a little kid in the 70s! It was a long time coming!

Not too disappointed........I had a feeling we would lose.More disappointed on how we lost. DUKE, FL, Baylor and the Zags all lost yesterday! Duke had been playing really good ball the past couple of weeks, but looked like dogsh&* yesterday. Chalking it up to sh&* happens.... We were on a nice roll there for a while. Were still in good shape. We have always bounced back well after a loss! We still have a shot at 14-4 in Conf play( predicted 13-5 at beginning) and a #1 seed in the BIG! Still feel we will be a #4 seed in the dance...............Slim outside shot at a 3.

Yeah, that whole March Madness thing is for losers. Does anyone even get excited for or watch that mess anymore?, its so 70s. You know elite recruits are thinking that single elimination tourney featuring the best of the best is for pussys. Gimme the team that wins one of the 30 or so conferences once every 4 to 5 years, especially the ones with the unbalanced schedules, that's what gets me stoked. And if they share the title with another team, color me superstoked. Final Fours are for low achievers

these goals are largely the same. doing well in conference gets you a better seed which gives you a better chance in the tourney. it is rare a team is mediocre in season and makes any noise in the tourney.

No doubt the higher seed the better.............other than the 12-5 upset every year......."CHALK" teams, as of recent, have advanced past the first round! No doubt, higher seed the better!

Of course winning your regular season conference championship should be a goal, and it most likely will get you a better tourney seed then the teams that finish below you. But to say making the Final Four is nothing but celebrating finishing 4th is, well to put it bluntly, so Purdue mentality. Look at what are probable conference championship will net us this
year, a 4 seed in the Big Dance.

the championship did not net us that. our home losses did. we deserve the seeding we get either way but talking about final 4s is the cart before the horse imo.

Okay, I'm sure you know what I'm saying, but I'll rephrase. Whoever wins the Big Ten conference will be seeded 4th in the NCAA tourney, and will probably be considered the
lowest of the 4 seeds. Winning the Big Ten conf = 16th seed in the NCAA tourney. I will be happy if we win the conference. I'm 54y/o, I want to see us make a Final Four before I die.

I understand both sides, but it means a lot to me and would mean more if it were a round robin like it used to be. The hype of playing a team that was hand selected to play against in a hand selected revenue...ONE time has the attention of many. I love it, but like the season as well. Play the tourney and play it a week later and the results are probably different. However, today with the hype it can be a big plus in recruiting, but only one team wins its last game and I doubt any will pick that team and give the field meaning it is a very quick crapshoot
