Hello -

Lat year I started the tradition of taking alumni/current students involved in a professional organization at Ohio University to the "big away game" of the season for the Bobcats. This year, the Friday night game in WL and a Saturday in Indy will be the play.

I have been to West Lafayette several times as my Dad liked to take me to Big Ten games growing up but also made the journey with some friends when I was 19. Ohio State had a PAT blocked to end the game that year.

Anyhow, I am coming back and traveling with upwards of 12 people. I rented an AirBnB over by the golf course and already plan meals at TripleXFamily Restaurant and pre-loading drinks at Harry's.

Are there any other "must dos" on a Purdue Friday night either pre or post game?

Also - I bought the cheapest tickets I could in a group because frankly a lot of these kids can't afford a $60 ticket - my section is 113. Any thoughts on those?

I look forward to a great trip. We wen't to Tennessee last year and had a great time, really hope to have an enjoyable time with all of you.

Friday Night: I would head to Bruno's down on the levee. It is a great local pizza joint and the owner has accumulated an impressive array of Purdue sports history. I would walk around campus as well as I truly believe Purdue's campus is very beautiful...check out the Bell Tower, Engineering Fountain, Liberal Arts Fountain, and the Armstrong Hall of Engineering.

Gameday: Check out Breakfast Club...even if you aren't old enough to get in to the bars. They are returning the AAMB (All American Marching Band) back to their pregame concert this year at Slayter Hill (from what I have heard) and that is always a great concert.

I would be partaking in the Breakfast club 100% - however, this game is a Friday night game - Thanks Big Ten - so sadly I think there will be no costumes.

Here's what I recommend do for a mature group of students:
Friday
- get in around noon
- eat lunch at Harry's. It's the best bar but it also has good food. Good to see it when it's not packed.
- Walk through the Union, through Memorial Mall, past lion fountain, past belltower, past engineering fountain, past the arch, past Cary Quad to Slayter Hill
- I'm assumining there's a pregame band concert at Slayter a couple hours before the game. But the night game might mess up the usual schedule.
- After the game, hit up Jake's/Brothers, or any other bar.

Saturday - eat breakfast at XXX

What type of students will be going? It might be interesting to see their building on campus. For instance, if they are business students, maybe walk around Rawls Hall.

I don't come to town often. I would echo going to Brunos just to see the memorabilia. they have both an upscale Italian/German menu and reasonably priced pizza. I would also recommend going to a t-shirt store. Out of principle I try to avoid Follett's. I like the one in the corner of that shopping center near Vons.

You think a little thing like the game being on a Friday night is gong to prevent costumes and excessive drinking??? Nay, I see the makings of brunch club!

That is very enticing. I wonder if there is anyway to find out what plans have for that?

I really wanted to see Breakfast Club!

Assuming breakfast club is still on, take your group to Goodwill beforehand and buy the most ridiculous thing you see. It helps the community and gives you a cheap costume to wear to the bars - winner winner.

For your Saturday in Indy -- assuming everyone is 21+ - if you are staying downtown, I would recommend doing dinner/drinks in the Mass. Ave. area just northeast of the Circle. There are some great restaurants and bars in that area.

Bakersfield Mass. Ave, Mimi Blue Meatballs, Bru Burger, The Eagle, Bazbeaux, Nine Irish Brothers (Indy's Purdue bar), Ralston's, and Chatham Tap are all restaurants that have great food and aren't overly expensive along Massachusetts Avenue. You can get a solid meal and a drink or two for ~$25. And there's plenty of bars to check out as well along that street, and downtown proper is a 10-minute walk or so to the more traditional college-type bars (Tin Roof, Brothers, Kilroy's, etc.).

Staying at the Embassy Suites downtown that night - I know that Bru Berger is the play for dinner. I will take your other reccomendations on bars to heart - Ohio U. is a "party school" (or so THEY say), it is like I am trained for this!

Nice! You should be a quick Uber/Lyft from the hotel to Bru Burger, and from there most things will be walking distance or a super cheap Uber/Lyft if you are so inclined.
