Watched a bit of highlight film on him and came away a little unsure. Any one else care to give an assessment of what they saw to see if my thoughts line up? I see a tall player who has limited lateral quickness and is rail thin (200). Seems to be a guy who could be pushed around by smaller players with more bulk (Smotherman for example).

Not concerned about the weight. 7 foot high school kids are often very thin. They need to time to grow into that type of height. Not overly concerned about lateral quickness either.

I'm far from a recruiting expert but it seems to me that the key qualities to look for in a big man are good hands, good coordination/footwork , and a good work ethic. If they have those things, they can develop into a good college big man with hard work.

Kids not due on campus for two more years. I'm guessing most of his growth at this point has been upwards and now will likely start to fill out a little bit. Not surprising he's a rail at this point. Anybody got stats on IH's height weight at the start of his HS junior summer???

yes, the kid has 2 more years to put on some good weight, reminds me of Seth Dugan from a couple of years ago now at WMU.

He will bulk up at Purdue. Haas doesn't have good lateral quickness either. You can't teach 7'2... he's a must add if he's interested.

I'd take him if his PG on his AAU team comes with. Watched his highlight film, Wow talk bout impressive, kid is a STUD!!!

No, he isn't a "must add". Just because he's over 7 feet tall doesn't mean he's particularly skilled. Hammons and Haas already had pretty good offensive skillsets for their size when they were recruited by Purdue. I doubt that Trapp is that far along (at least not yet).

I would say he is a " must stay in contact with " and if he is ready to commit right now, . . I would take him !

1.) Not many 7'2 sophomores
2.) Not many Bigs that reach out to us &
3.) Not many at that age which think Purdue is a good fit overall. (Developmentally, educationally, style of play, etc..)

The kid is obviously pretty smart and focused. All of these things taken together sure screams "recruit him" to me.

I don't like that "you can't teach 7' tall" comment used by anyone, a guy like Iowa's Kingsbury never impressed me.

I just hope our staff is being extremely judicious in extending offers to big men. There's no reason to think they are not, but like they say when you are a hammer everything looks like a nail. When you've had a run of success with 7 footers, you might tend to start believing that you can take any 7 footer and mold him into the next AJ or Isaac. What sets AJ and Isaac apart from many 7 footers is their level of skill and touch for their size, which is evident in the video posted of Isaac by boilerzz.

Yep...if you are talking about Jordan McCabe he has been to Purdue's elite camp this past August....man he has the handles. So far no Purdue offer.....meanwhile he has 4 offers from the likes of WV, DePaul, etc......I guess Painter did not see what others saw....as he did offer others who attended the camp. BTW....McCabe scored 55 points in two state tournament games, including 24 in the title-clinching victory over Waunakee....and is the all state for Wisconsin as a sophomore(2018). IMO...Purdue should get going in respect to McCabe & offer this kid since he has shown interest by attending our camp.

Adam Woodbury?

Former Iowa SG Chris Kingsbury ('93-'94 through '95-'96) must be the name mixing it up for you.
