I know some of you are familiar with Shoop's history prior to Purdue. I'm sitting here wondering if he's as bad as everyone seems to think. He has to play the best offensive football with the hand he is dealt. He has an average quarterback at best...good enough to play, not good enough to be a "difference maker" that this team desperately needs. As one poster stated, when put in a decision making position, Appleby appears to make his decision in the huddle, if not on the bus ride over, as to where he's going with the ball. The offensive line appears to give him a little time to throw, but the receivers don't seem to get down field and into their routes very fast. I don't think we've got good receivers, or I should say, they are good but nothing terrific. Running game is good, but you can't run the ball every damn play, teams will adjust. You're left calling plays that are predetermined to try and mix up your offense. Throw left, throw right, run it a little bit...that'll cover it until Shoop gets some more talent to work with. Honestly, I don't know but these guys can't be uneducated or unaware of how to play the game. I think they see these kids a lot more than us, and they know they are handcuffed to a great extent. They're trying to make something out of nothing. I love Knox and the Indiana Mr. Football. They look great. I liked the offensive line's run blocking. Every opponent from here on out will know what we're about and that's not throwing the football down the field. I think 3 wins, maybe 4. Blast away, because i'm interested in hearing where you really think we can adjust on the offensive side of the ball. And hey...we put up some points!
