Here are a few of my observations from being at United Center yesterday:
Purdue's crowd was all that great but it wasn't as bas as some have made it out to be. The Wisconsin crowd was huge. Probably about 75% of the fans there. But that was to be expected as they are a top 5 team. Maryland had very few fans there and Michigan State had very few fans there.

Purdue had a great first half as was obvious. BUt the second half almost every thing that could go wrong went wrong. It was like a perfect storm but against US. Alot of things happened in sequense that took the life out of us. We were trying hard but it was what it was. It is certainly possible that if one or two things had happened differently that it would have been completely different. FIrst we couldn't get a ball to go thru the hoop( we had about 4 go in the hoop but come back out. THen we got a run of should have been fouls on Wisconsin that weren't called, then some bad turnovers, etc. And while all that was going on Wisconsin played an almost perfect half and could hardly miss on their shots no matter who was shooting. Wisconsin is a really good team that plays well together. Yet they may play just as poorly today as they did good yesterday.

It is amazing how Wisconsin hardly ever gets called for a foul. They are not an attack dog team like some teams that foul alot but they foul alot more than they get called for. I firmly believe that after watching that game in person that alot of it has to do with the fact that Bo Ryan is constantly in the ear of an officail on evey call against Wisconsi, on a ton of non calls that he complains should be called when Wisconain has the ball. He and one of his assistants were both constantly standing on the floor (inbounds) complaing while the game was being played even while playing at their end. A few times they were in the way of the play. You can believe it doesn't affect the outcome of how games are called but I certainly disagree. BUt Bo is obviously a great game coach .

In watching the Maryland/ M.S. the exact same thing was true of Izzo. I can't understand, for the life of me, how the refs let these type of coaches get away with this type of behavior. Why do the refs give them a few times to beef but otherwise tell them to sit there asses down or the will gwt a tech and then be thrown out of the game if they keep it up. It really isn't fair to the coaches who are not constantly whining.

ONe thing that many people have noticed , that definetly needs working on, is that we are constantly about 1/2 second late in getting the ball into the centers hands when he breaks open.

Let us get some experience in the NCAA this year and then we could be quite good next year.
