but just watched his "profile" of Purdue and Cincinnati. For the record, he's picking Cincinnati on "a hunch" and based on their non-conference schedule and experience in "big games".
Cincy's Non-Conference RPI is 118. Purdue's is 92.
He also commented on Cincinnati's "being very good in close games". For those of you scoring at home, Cincinnati has played six games which finished with a 5 point or less difference. They are 2-5 in those games (see below). Apparently a .285 record constitutes being "very good" nowadays.
W - Eastern Illinois 54-49
L - @ Nebraska 56-55
L - @Eastern Carolina 50-46
W - USF 63-58
L - Tulane 50-49
L - Xavier 59-57 - Left out earlier
L - U-Conn 57-54
By comparison, Purdue has played 11 games that finished 5 point or less difference. They are 8-3 in those games (.727).
W - BYU 87-85
W - NCState 66-61
L - UNF 73-70
L - GWebb 89-84
W - Minnesota 72-68
W - Iowa 67-63
W - OSU 60-58
W - @IU 67-63
L - @OSU 65-61
W - Illinois 63-58
W - PSU 64-59
Must be the new math.
Edit: Left out Xavier as a Cincy close loss and recalculated their winning percentage.
