Had the opportunity to have a friend's apartment all to myself . . . well, and my future wife. We did listen to the game, and in spite of the fact she was an iu nursing student, she was pulling for Purdue to win the game. In the subsequent 49 years of "opposites attracting" marriage, I had/have no regrets at missing the opening game against UCLA. Did not miss any more though. And today I am hoping for a Michigan win against iu. If you have not done so already, read Mark Monteith's article on the home page.

I attended the game and the atmosphere was electric! Best Purdue game I ever saw in a losing effort. After the final buzzer, the fans erupted in a standing ovation as both teams left the floor.

Me too - I love the fact that at that time, PU fans did respect and admire the effort of both teams ... it was a very emotional game and the emotions lasted far after the game.

I've been to a couple of others that were damn fine 1. vs Marquette in the NCAA quarterfinals '69 - got to see McGuire throw his plaid coat and wonder if the stands at Wisconsin would stay up throughout the stomping crowd and 2. beating IU February 26, 1987 when they were #3 and we were #6. The crowd was beyond LOUD and rushed the floor.

My Dad took me to "the" game. I was nine, and I fell asleep.

"The House that Cazzie Built", Crisler Center turns 50 today, also. Michigan played Kentucky on 12/2/67. Michigan lost 96-79. Wiki says it opened on the 6th.
