Can we start a petition or something to eliminate end of game plays for Biggie? It never works out and more often than not we don't even get a shot off.

Run some screens for shooters who can then opt to go inside to Biggie if there's no shot, but just forcing it inside into a double team has been a disaster.

I thought Biggie made a couple of great passes out to our shooters at the end of the game last night in the closing minutes...It was obvious that Penn was counting on him to go to the basket and doubled him instantly (both times on our bench side by the basket). The first was Ryan's 2nd three(If I remember correctly) and one was to PJ if memory serves and he got fouled. Just remember them thinking what great passes- but was fairly excited so not sure if I remember it exactly just remember thinking what great plays....or was I hallucinating from my meds?!?!

I actually like Biggie at the top of the key here to end games as:
1. a screener for shooters
2. a passer to Haas in the post
3. a jump shooter
4. a drive to the hoop for a foul
5. a roll off a screen for a pass
6. a diversion for the D opening up a shooter

Just a lot to do with him there. I think Painter has used him there effectively, just not at the end of games.

I have no problem with the inside-outside play using Biggie. The problem with the end of regulation was that he held it too long before passing out, and allowed the defense to crowd the outside shooter. If he moves faster, it would have been a good play with a 50-50 chance of scoring the winning basket right then.

Our guards also abandoned him that last possession as well. He was trying to pass it, nobody was around him.

Agree here. Penn State did a good job of doubling swinging a second defender from the baseline. With some anticipation, another screen and ball reversal, DM probably gets a pretty good look before the end of regulation.

I'm confident, CMP is breaking down that film and showing the team how that could play out better. If the double doesn't come, then Biggie goes for a shot or has a second or two to find an open shooter......in a perfect world. He had that with Iowa, just missed a good look.

Agree. How do you not have the best player on your team not at least touch the ball? He needs to learn to pass out quicker like you said, but you want your play makers making plays.

One of his biggest plays of the season was in the last minute or two against IU when he started outside, ran a great pick and roll and got an "and one." If the play starts outside and gives him space to work I'm a fan. However, I agree there probably shouldn't be anymore post up plays at the end of the game. Not enough options in that situation.

Or maybe Painter could draw up an end-of-game play for Swanigan that isn't so obvious and might not initially have the ball going into him.

Yeah...I don't mind a play designed for him to score but not as the point forward. Just not secure enough with the ball.

yeah, like one of the plays he draws up to inbounds the ball for an easy basket... :)

Why......can't Purdue in-bound the ball effectively??

When we return........

And later.......the shocking details on the "zone" discussion....

Are you an UM fan? The original episodes (Season 1 and 2 mostly intact) with Robert Stack (not the pre Season 1 specials with Raymond Burr and Karl Malden) are now available for viewing again for the first time in 14 years on Amazon Prime.

Thanks for the info, Nage....I've enjoyed a few of the shows, but it's not way up there. Funny, when I first read your reply and saw UM.....I thought "Michigan?".....where did that come from?

Raymond Burr as Ironside is great (and Benny Hill did a few hilarious parodies)....Karl Malden....Streets of San Francisco (with a young Michael Douglas). Of that genre, nothing beats
Jack Lord (as Steve McGarrett) and company in Hawaii Five-O for me.

I like what your saying. I think they used that base play on the game winner Carsen hit a couple weeks back. Unless Boilergal74's meds are giving me hallucinations.
