No D'Onofrio as Purdue taps HS ranks for DC instead. Freeman leaving?

While there are questions surrounding the hire of Els as the new DC, there are others around what happened with D'Onofrio and even bigger ones regarding the status of Freeman (which would be a huge blow).

HS school ranks? 26 yrs experience college coaching. Either your thinking of someone else or this is a severely dimwitted and shitty attempt at trolling. Leave it to the usual gloom duoches to rip this guy apart. Can't wait to hear about there disdain for what cologne he wears or his favorite color

I love "The Big Easy."

Joking aside, I won't bag on the guy for being out of football "because of his kids" although reality is it was "could not get another FBS job" and he took the year off vs. making $60k at Youngstown State.

Bigger issue, we hired a DC WITH NO MAJOR DC EXPERIENCE! Has not been a DC in 12 years? 8-15 as a DC at mighty NMSU. Oh my goodness.

I am not sure if this means Freeman is gone, but puffy vest said he "will not have a walk around coordinator" or someone without a position. So maybe Els helps with secondary or is the "safeties" coach.

Els is a less impressive hire than D'Onofrio. But this will be the "clear choice" from the "piles of resumes."

Another thing unimpressive about Hazell- his staff formation.

Tell me about his prowess as a defensive coordinator. Tell me about HIS scheme. Look up those magical years and stout defenses at Hastings College.

No trolling...and not thinking of someone else...just trying to be polite about the fact that from the piles of resumes of which Hazell had to sort through to fill the position, a guy that has a collective two single years of experience as a DC (only one at the Div I level) and that was indeed coaching in HS last year opposed to at the collegiate level...was the choice...makes sense, but only because of the other senseless decisions that have been made (from coaching hires, coaches retained, QB decisions, etc.).

I don't know what's worse..."coach" hazells recruiting of players or his recruiting of coaches.
OMG, can things get any worse?
On second thought, with hazell in charge, anything's possible.

Wake me when this nightmare is over.
Morgan Burke could end it if he simply had a conscience and set his ego aside...and in light of not having done his actual job effectively, genuinely did what was best for Purdue athletics and the football program specifically...likely more a pipe dream than a possibility admittedly, but one can hope. If not, then the nightmare does not end for at least two more years.

As a Husker, I must offer my condolences. Els was by far the worst assistant under the Pelini-era. Our linebackers were poorly coached throughout his years here. Will Compton, the starting MLB for the Redskins, looked like a bum under Els. Then you must factor in that our recruiting got continually worse once he took over as recruiting coordinator. And don't even get us started about his special teams coaching. The only hope I will offer you is that Pelini was such a strict micromanager that maybe this new chance at freedom will allow Els to shine. But my initial reaction is Ross "Twisty Things" Els is not a quality hire for your program.

Come on guys lets give him a year. Hell you know he`s not going to have a bunch of 4 & 3 stars to work with plus the dope in the white jacket looking over his shoulder.

Try to look at the bright side. He was probably cheap since I doubt he was being paid a lot at whatever HS. This will help lessen the blow of CDH's buy out next year.

In 12 months the darkest chapter in Purdue football history will be over. Cheers to 2017 and the future!

Note: I'm trying to be a lot more positive in the new year.

I'm not worried about it at all. He will suit our purposes just fine, as long as it is a 1 year deal, and they aren't paying him much.

Listen 2016 is just a lost year for football. The coaches know the ship is sailing after the season. And thats fine. Just keep Blough and Jones healthy for the next coach (hopefully KS) and we will go from there.

No. I'm good. You bright side guys got your chance with hazell and shoop. When everyone is gone we can then even begin to talk bright side
