Ladies beat Bowling Green 79-73.

Brooke Moore 25 points and 9 assists.

Madison Layden 13 points 4 assists and 4 steals.

Tam Farquhar 13 points and 9 rebounds.

Kayana Traylor 12 points 5 assists and 5 rebounds.

Yes, nice to beat a well-coached, undefeated MAC team( it's unreal how many MAC teams can shoot threes), but these are not BT teams and this team is so uneven, it is hard to believe they will do well in the conference. After establishing a solid lead midway through the third quarter, the offense, which it seems is a lot of just free lance, went dead and Purdue might very well have lost this game. Moore seems like a special find and Farquar and Traylor are very good. Shea is soon to be a top notch player. Layton too is beginning to show why she is so highly touted. Her 3's fell and she made some great assists. At the end, when Purdue was up just two, she drove the baseline and threw a bullet to Grant who nailed the clinching three. Layton has a lot of savvy. Now when a good NW team comes in Thursday we'll see if beating up on MAC teams means anything. A huge diffence this year will be the return of MacG.
P.S. On the problem side, this team has been toasted by dribble penetration and the BT has seen that.

I'm interested to see how the minutes will be distributed once Karissa McLaughlin comes back. Right now 4 players Moore, Layden, Traylor and Farquhar are playing 35 plus minutes per game. With Diagne, Kyle and Grant getting about 15 minutes each.
Will Coach Versyp go small or will one of the 4 lose time? Something to watch.

Guessing Grant losses minutes, I'm sure Karissa probably gets 15-20 minutes early on. Future looks decent for the ladies.

One thing that has surprised me this year is the lack of minutes for Woltman. She was a top 25-30 recruit, perhaps the highest of anyone on the team, wonder if she's hurt or just not ready to contribute yet?

I'm not sure what's going on there either. It would be a good question to ask Coach Versyp on her show. Though I kind of doubt she would answer completely open and honest. Probably be more of a Coach Brohm type answer than a Coach Painter type answer. Lol.

Two silly personal hand-check fouls within the first minute you are put in the game won't get you a lot of playing time. Unfortunately I am not counting on Woltman for much of any contribution. What a shame.

Thanks, I didn't watch, updates like this are much appreciated! Once Karissa comes back it looks like Purdue has a decent 8-9 person rotation.

Yes, they played much better yesterday and BG played and shot well. BG played as a team and were well coached. Layden and Kyle played much better. Moore was much better but still plays out of control a lot. T he defense still needs much work. Still way to many turnovers
Woldman just appears dis-interested.

The BIG Will Be tough sledding.

You'd be disinterested too if you were playing 0 minutes a game. Btw it's Woltman.

She doesn't fit in Sharon Versyp's scheme...I can see her trasferring. She doesn't have an offensive game at all that I can see... no outside jump shot to speak of. She can post up and get garbage put backs and rebound. But Sharon has been playing her as the 3rd or 4th back up center when I thought she would be the starting PF for this team. Sad... And the competition only gets stiffer next season... I wouldn't be surprised if Rickie transfers somewhere to get a fresh start and some actual PT.

she hasn't developed offensively...have you ever seen Woltman shoot a jump shot of any distance? I haven't.. I saw a post up move and a short jumper as the 4th back up Center in a game this season, but that's it. She has a great PF body, the size and visible strength it seems, but the offensive moves are non existent for me anyway. I hope that she gets more PT some time this season. She was a top rated recruit in HS, but pundits are wrong all the time when it comes to evaluating potential college players.

Seems like another highly ranked #4 that has a difficult time getting traction with SV. Ostarello comes to mind as another example although she seemed to get going later in her Purdue career.

Ostarello is a great comparison... A top 15 recruit who didn't quite live up to that rating at Purdue.

Disagree--Osterello had really good last two seasons. We'll see with Woltman, but she is so far down the rotation for a top recruit that it does not seem to have much potential.
I researched Woltman, she was like 28th her Sr year, her stats were 11 points and 9 rebounds per her Sr year, she was on a good team, guessing her job was to rebound and occasionally put back. We'll see, she's still a Soph, perhaps the switch will flip next year.
