What the last three games tell me is what I suspected.

The recruiting rankings tell the story. We have been at the bottom of the BIG and P5 schools in recruiting for really the last 10 years.

Our current coach has been able to get the team to perform in spurts which is probably all we can expect with the talent level we have.

With the number of bowl games that exist - we should be able to get back into a bowl (a minor) in 1-3 years. 1-2 if we use Juco, 2-3 if we don't.

With the right coach that can recruit both the JUCO's and the high school's and coach em...two years!

That is wishful thinking potentially...there are not 10 guys on the roster right now that are legitimate B1G-caliber players, so whoever takes over the mess that the program is genuinely is starting from ground zero and has to do a virtual complete rebuild, including of the roster...whoever gets the job has to be a stellar recruiter or have some guys on staff that are.

The only program that is in the discussion with Purdue with respect to being the worst program in the conference is Rutgers, and they landed what would appear to be a fairly solid HC, and look at them this year...Purdue would struggle to compete in the largest class for HS football in Indiana, never mind in the B1G...it would be a miracle along the lines of what Trump just pulled off if Purdue was remotely competitive in two years.

4-6. Starting from zero but at least have the advantage of playing in the Big10 unless they are relegated out.

I was talking going to a bowl not competing for a B1G Championship that obviously would take 3-5 full recruiting classes.

There are guys capable of playing but when those are your starters and the backups are t ready and are forced to play 2-3 years ahead of schedule, this is what you get. Replogle, Bentley, Panfil, Robinson, Hunt, Blough, Jones, Domo, Yancey, Schopper, Lorenzo Neal, and the middle part of the offensive line are all capable players.

Without singling anyone out, I would suggest that of your list, no more than 5, and possibly fewer would be in anyone other than Rutger's 2-deeps within the B1G...just because they are the best players that Purdue has does not mean that they are genuine quality players...even of the 5, they were non-factors against a marginal Cincinnati team...outside of Rutgers, and maybe even including Rutgers, Purdue is without question the least talented team in the conference...and, they have been the least (and worst) coached as well.

4 years and it can be done. Colorado was in worse shape than us 4 years ago. We were looking for a coach at the same time they were. We hired Hazell, they hired McIntyre. We got worse, they're currently ranked 12th in the nation.

Purdue will be a Big 10 doormat for at least another 10 years! It's amazing the damage Hazell was able to inflict in 4 years!

Ya know the worst thing about Hazell is that he never seemed to grasp the fact how bad the team was doing. He would talk like everything was getting worked out and improving. I never understood that. Maybe he was different behind the scenes.

If you have a good recruiter, you can potentially throw in some talented freshmen or JUCOs to make us competitive. If you take on the developmental approach, we're 3 years away. We're seeing that all it took was a handful of injuries to make us go from the edge of mediocre to a complete dumpster fire. Depth is thin and it appears talent is lacking. We're filling the spots of injured players with players that haven't completely recovered at this point.
