Why doesn't the AD treat Versup just like Keady was treated his last year of coaching. Hire a new women's BB coach with the understanding that she would be a one year assistant under Versup and the next year she would be the head coach? That way the new coach could concentrate on recruiting like Painter did. This would allow the AD plenty of time to find the best possible coach available. It sure did work for the men's BB team.

No, she needs to be as far away from the program as possible. Keadys was not a perennial top 10 program. She’s destroyed our program and needs to be completely out of the way.

Illinois hired one of the winningest coaches in college basketball, but from Division III basketball. They have finished last three straight years. When Painter came in he had Division I head coaching experience AND he was a Purdue guy and former Keady player. There is nobody with an equivalent background in wbb. Closest to it is Katie Gearlds and she is at a level beneath Division III as an NAIA coach.

I wish I could be confident. He could see she was not doing the job when he arrived, but has done nothing and accepted mediocrity for four years. That does not indicate that having a championship level program is his agenda.

There is somebody else in the AD at or past retirement age. Retire that person (saving a six figure salary) and offer Versyp that job. You owe her $720,000 or so. She is 55 and you pay her $750;000, or $150k a year until she is 60. You have probably broken even or close to it. Then you hire the best coach you can for about $600K. You are close to a wash.
