Nevada fan with questions

Greetings! My Dad and I are flying out for next week's game, and I was hoping I could get a few questions answered before we leave:

~ We're flying in to Indianapolis and staying there Thursday through Saturday nights. We wanted to check out the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum while we're there -- are there any other must-see attractions in the city you'd recommend?

~ We were looking at parking in the Northwestern garage on game day and heading down to the bars on State Street before and after the game. We don't mind the walk, but were curious if there were any better options for parking relative to pre- and post-game stuff? Also, which exit would be best to use to get to that garage? And how early would you suggest getting to the garage before it fills up?

~ We're both beer geeks and have looked up Lafayette and People's Brewing for drinks. Are there any other really good breweries in Indy or West Lafayette you'd recommend?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

While in Indy eat at St Elmo's. Top shelf steaks and drinks. Harry's is the go to campus bar. Welcome to West Lala. Enjoy the festival seating at the stadium.

Hope you didn't spend over $10 on tickets. You can get them for next to nothing either on stubhub or around the stadium at kickoff. Then go sit anywhere you please.

If you are interested in history ,you might check out the Indiana State Museum which isnt anything great, but its okay and reasonably priced. The Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War museum in the basement of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the Circle is pretty neat,Near the State Museum is the Congressional Medal of Honor Wall, which pays tribute to all of the Medal Winners.President Benjamin Harrisons Home is just north of downtown at 13th and Delaware streets.I may catch some flack for this, but stay away from the NCAA Hall of Champions ,as its a ripoff and there isnt much to it.I hope you enjoy your visit to our Capital City.

The IMS is a must. Also do the downtown area - do the State Museum, tour Monument Circle (ride/walk to the top), walk the canal in the evening, perhaps the Zoo/White River Gardens if time.
Very walkable and friendly downtown.
St Elmo's for dinner is a must.
Mass Ave area also is great for drinks/dinner.
Just ask anyone for directions or help.
Enjoy!

Go to Harry and izzy's if st Elmo's is too expensive for you.

If you haven't already rented a car, you can take the Lafayette limo from Indy airport to Purdue Union.

Breweries worth checking out in Indy:

***Sun King on College Avenue
***Fountain Square Brewery in of course, Fountain Square.
There are also some restaurants on the Virginia Avenue corridor that have been getting good press, ie; Rook, Milk Tooth, Bluebeard and in Fountain Square, Marrow.

McHoop

Don't worry about getting there too early. You'll be the crowd.
This year for Halloween I am going as the bleachers at Ross-Ade Stadium...

If you like military history 2 blocks north of the circle is the Indiana War memorial which begins with pre revolutionary war displays through current actions in the middle east. It has a lot of nice displays and weapons/vehicles. You can spend a good hour or two depending upon your interest.

It is free but they do ask for a donation.

+1 on Fountain Square Brewery.

Get to your seats early for pregame and stay put during halftime. The best onfield performances are going to come from the non scholarship students in uniform. You can take a piss when Purdue has the ball.

Since you will be in the area of the IMS, check out Daredevil Brewing and I have heard good things about the Big Woods location in Speedway. For more Beer Geeky things, hit up Deviate on the north side at 86th and Michigan. I think they only allow one beer to filled for To Go. Sun King is meh, Flat 12 is hit or miss and I can't speak for a lot of the others downtown Indy, but they are plentiful. I always enjoy Lafayette Brewing and their styles lean more English, than anything else.

If in the Speedway area for breakfast, a must is Charlie Brown's. Also a must see is Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art down town.

We are about to get a new coach so everybody is really down on the program. Purdue campus is beautiful so enjoy and if you want a popping steak house in west la la try McGraws on Friday or Saturday night and request a table by the water.

Boiler Up!

Yes, do Charlie Brown's for breakfast, but not lunch. I also second the Eiteljorg, which is considered one of the best in the world for Native American Indian and Western art. Indianapolis Museum of Art, north of D/T, on West 38th St., is also considered outstanding, if you're into that sort of thing.

Not if he really needs to piss. Purdue won't hold onto the ball long enough for a long john run.

Think about Conner Prairie Farm and the Children's Museum. Both are very, very good. In truth, the Children's Museum is also about adults too.
