There has been lots of talk about what Painter needs to do to get recruits, as well as talk about the season not mattering and the B1G tourney not mattering ... and all that matters is the Dance. Based on those discussions, I have created the following "Need to do this year" score-sheet. We need at least 13 points.

Beat Villanova ------------------------ 1 point
Beat Louisville ------------------------ 1 point
Beat ND in the CrossRoads ------- 1 point
Beat IU at Bloomington ------------- 1 point
Beat IU at WL ------------------------- 1 point
Beat Wisconsin at WL -------------- 1 point
Beat MSU at WL --------------------- 1 point
Win B1G season championship -- 1 point
Play in B1G championship game -- 1 point
Win B1G championship game ----- 2 points
Win first NCAA game ----------------- 2 points
Win 2nd round NCAA game -------- 4 points
Win third round NCAA game ------- 8 points
Go to Final Four----------------------- 16 points

BTTCG should be worth more than 2 points.
Then I'd have to raise the points on the NCAA games ... which would change the points we need to earn. If we do everything above the first NCAA game, it's worth 11 points ... less than we need to earn. That's as it should be ... If we don't win the first NCAA game, it doesn't much matter how we did in the B1G

Winning the first NCAA game and not playing in the B1G championship game doesn't make it to 13 either. Winning the third round NCAA game and not doing anything else does make it to 13. Just FYI.

It's just a game ...

Not to nitpick, but why is winning one non-conference game the same points as winning the B1G regular seasons title? Overall I like it

Because winning the B1G season title has little to do with recruits choosing us. Plus, I worked toward earning the 13 points ... if I give more to the B1G title, it gets too easy to earn the 13.

The one pointers are really there to say "We can't lose these games or else we better go far in the NCAA."
