ND

I like the idea of playing ND. I see this rivalry as sort of like Army and Navy. Or the Packers and Bears. We may not always be as good as Norte Dame, but the games have usually been competitive and fun to watch. I could care less about ESPN and national coverage. This series is about the fans. There is an excitement in the stadium like no other when ND comes to play Purdue. The stadium comes alive. And any true fan and recruit can see it.

I saw UW has a planned home and home series against some team maybe Illinois where they will play at Lambeau and Soldier Field. That's creative and exciting for the fans.

I saw we also added games against Memphis and Indiana St as well. It's good to have a blend of tough and not so tough games.

All I can say is we better not be messing around as a football program in the 2020's. If we're going to schedule ND, then we need to commit to winning the games. They aren't going to stay down for long. But the timing seems about right.. we've got a few years to recover from the MB/DH disaster, start winning again, and get the stadium filled with Purdue fans for this series.

I believe that series is against Notre Dame also. They signed a contract with Wisconsin for the neutral site games.

ok, that makes more sense. it still seems like a cool idea, and I know ND has played in Soldier Field before. it would be kind of cool to watch ND play on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field ! ESPN probably loves the idea. there has been a rich history of former Notre Dame players playing for the Packers. including Paul Horning.

I think that Bobinski saw that the rebuild was going to take time and he wanted to move some of these bigger non-conference games around when he could...hence the moving of the earlier ND series back to make the new series possible. Purdue now has Indiana State on the slate for 2020 which looks like it could be the year to really allow Brohm to show his success (even if you have to do that through some scheduling magic). Pushing that ND series back even a year allows for Brohm to build to his 5th year in what would be his first time getting nearly all of his own players in his system at Purdue. Overall, MBob has shown he knows what the hell he is doing and has clearly shown he has a road map to get the program where it needs to be. I think he understands Purdue may never compete for a National Title (unless the circumstances fall in our favor like they came close to in 2004)....but having a team that can compete, get to quality bowl games, and put asses in the stadium is the standard that needs to be built.

Wait what? Reading this board I thought purdue was winning 7 games this year?

I live in South Bend and I was upset when this series stopped but now I wish we wouldn't start it back up. Let them get by on the teams they broke our series to play like BC Pitt Duke NC State and Duke. Plus I like getting to play some of these other teams anyway like Virginia Tech Louisville Missouri etc.

I noticed we're scheduled to play Indiana St. twice in the future. SIU is playing Mississippi. So much for that ruling about Power 5 conference teams not playing those lesser level schools.

They altered it. We can now schedule them in years we only get four conference home games if we want. Figured you'd be thrilled. Hopefully soon we can add a high school or junior high team also.

Obviously, brohm or BOBO felt the same way as me, otherwise he wouldn't have scheduled Ind St. let's be honest. We all love a blow out. However, it better be a blow-out rather than a squeaker or loss..

The local media in Milwaukee made a big deal out of the "home and home" series between ND and Wisky at Lambeau - Soldier Field. I don't see this as good for Purdue recruiting. There will be a lot of hype about these schools playing in those storied venues, especially Lambeau. Only helps the recruiting for both of them. I don't expect to ever out recruit ND, but I hope we get on par or exceed Wisky in recruiting (we used to) and this doesn't help.

I saw we added two more games next decade with the Domers. It will be 6 games in 8 years. I know there are varying opinions on this, but I love it. I want that rivalry to be maintained.
Sorry- I don't miss those wannabes and their delusional, hypocritical fans one bit.

Remember- Purdue was all for continuing the series; it was the Domaz who quit-- screw 'em.
As someone who witnessed this "rivalry" for the better part of 40 years, IMO the vast majority of excitement from the game came from arrogant doma douchebags who live to denigrate everything about Purdue....

The worst part was watching year after year after year-- Purdue wet its collective pants and choke away absolutely winnable games against mediocre, ridiculously over-hyped nd teams.

Feel free to rejoice that the domaz have graciously agreed to permit Purdue to be on the same field with them once again-- I'm praying we'll find a way to act like we belong!
