NBA draft

How do you think the Pacers did with their selections?

They got some nice players. Difference makers, doubtful, but we will see??
I do like the Wong kid @ 55, can he can make the team?

Slightly off-topic and apologies if this has already been discussed, but it blows me away that Michigan had two top-15 draft picks and Hunter Dickinson on last year's team and still couldn't make the NCAA Tournament.
Bufkin never impressed me, Howard was injured some, he didn’t stand out that much either, the NBA draft is all about potential. That Sanogo kid not getting drafted was a surprise to me.

All good points. I kindof forgot that they had early injuries. Still, that's A LOT of talent on a team that couldn't bluff it's way to 20 wins and a #10 seed. Even toward the end of the year they were very inconsistent, if I recall correctly.

You couldn't be more wrong (is it a surprise?) about Jarace Walker. ;)

Difference makers are All stars.
Good to know J Walker will be an all star. Great news for the Pacers.

Actually, I don't watch the Pacers, just wanted input on college guys headed there. Thank you for providing......even if in a poor manner.

An unusual draft! Edey and Dickinson were very smart to come back to college. I was hoping TJD might fall to the Bucks . I was shocked the pacers passed on him twice. I noticed the 2021 player of the year and ncaa leading rebounder the last two years from Kentucky wasn’t drafted and neither was the player from Gonzaga.

The nba is becoming a lot like the nfl. They love their combine results and future potential over actual performance! The Packers could care less about performance as long as the player has speed! I’m not sure what the NBA minds saw in half of the players drafted. Other than potential.

Was the player from IU really worthy of being a first round pick? I haven’t paid much attention. How did that last IU guard do that was a 1 year wonder and was drafted by the Celtics? I forgot his name already.

There seemed like a lot of reaches this year. But looking back at the last 10 years, Very few second round picks have amounted to anything in the nba.

Ask Braden Smith how good JHS was 😎 and then NBA GM’s. Good fit at LA

The pacers ended up signing the center from Kentucky rather than drafting TJD. Gonzaga’s Timms signed with the Bucks

Difference makers are all stars eh? Gee thanks coach Buck.
Actually difference makers are ANY player that makes the team better than they are without him.
Not that i"d expect you to grasp that.
I thought guys like, oh, 6th man of the year is probably a difference maker. And probably not an all star.
hmmm
Thanks for providing entertainment, even if in a poor manner.

I have to be believe TJD will at least play 1 minute. I also believe the Bucks are looking at Timme in a similar role as Lopez. I do wonder why players that averaged 5 points in college were drafted.

Appears TJD is getting a 3 year contract, guaranteed money too. His agent is James Dunleavy while the warriors gm is mike Jr.

Most guys would not not get a guaranteed contract taken that low in the draft. Good for him.

He isn’t getting a guaranteed contract at the second to last pick. It’s called a two way contract. It means he’ll start in the gleague. If he doe’s really well they can bring him up to the nba to sit on the bench

Tjd will never play a minute in the nba
He’ll get some time, there’s bums in the league, not saying he’ll be stellar but he’s playing a minute lol

Sure about that?

No, he's on the 15-man roster because of this deal. Doesn't mean he won't end up in the G-League at some point. I'll bet the over if you're setting the number of NBA minutes at 0.5.

I find it interesting that GS was so enamored with him, and seemingly NO ONE else was? Surely it's not solely because of the Dunleavy connection. Just seems odd.

Was Dray Green considered a good shooter out of MSU? I do not recall. I know he was a good rebounder and defender. Maybe Jr. sees that in TJD.

Getting into the lane against the Purdue guards is a bit of how Purdue plays coming up from wing to baseline and trailing the offensive player and curing into the lane and right or wrong giving up the longer 2. Before Schifino it was X Johnson in how Purdue defended TJD. Had TJD not been there, the defense would have played a bit different...but it all starts in how you defend TJD and what are you willing to give up. Personally, I think the mid-range game (which JHS made a killing against Purdue) is the soft spot a lot of teams give up and you wonder with it being soft...is it as effective now since players have seen it for a while and know it will be there.

Yep. Plus if you play the same drop coverage every time, you allow the player to get into a rhythm. Which JHS clearly did.
