Names to consider for our next football coach?

By retaining Walters, do you think Purdue will sell more, less or the same number of season tix next year? Do you think they'll get more, less or the same $ into the collective for NIL?
I'm actually starting to believe that with Bobo's contract up next year, that he retires and this hire becomes someone elses problem.
Could be 1000% wrong but I’d imagine we lose 10-15k in current season ticket sales. Some probably offset by a few newbies, some offset by cheap package sales to opposing fans. Call it 12k in attendance we fall short in next year. That’s 84k unsold seats at say an average of $50 a pop. That’s $4.2million just in tickets. Tickets that don’t get an associated donation, concessions or parking fee. Call that another $2-3mil in lost revenue.

At that point the lost revenue pays for Walters buyout and a decent increase to the next coach.

Doesn’t take a business master to know that keeping Walters hurts the wallet next year.

But agree…they want a new AD and to have the new one hire the coach just like they did with Mbob. Making a “business” decision here but not really protecting the business…just some guys arbitrary timeline to leave.

George Carlin?

With a Texas twist......

The dream scenario is we hire away an AD AND his Head Football Coach.

I agree Hud. For the past couple weeks I've been trying to recall a situation where a coach was retained but his entire staff was fired...... So when does a head coach get a mulligan for hiring the wrong staff????
I believe they all will be let go.
Who wants to walk into a job knowing they will be used as a scapegoat by coach who can’t coach.

Also, Coach Prime has been getting a lot of flack from people that do not like him leading prayer for the team in the locker room and the field.
parents that have player on team? Or people that like to find something to complain about?

People that like to find something to complain about. Coach Prime has been getting a lot of haters since he got to Boulder. There are a lot of haters that have always wanted him to fail. Been like that for years.

Cross off the Toledo coach for me - they lost to bottom feeder Akron last night…

Since Coach Prime seems to have too much baggage, I think Purdue should go after Liberty head coach Jamey Chadwell. At Coastal Carolina he went 31-6 in his last three years and in two years at Liberty he is 21-3. We could probably triple this guy's salary.

What baggage?

I’ve read the comments. I don’t see anything about Coach Prime and baggage. Just say what you think the baggage is.
Verbatim quote from you: "People that like to find something to complain about. Coach Prime has been getting a lot of haters since he got to Boulder. There are a lot of haters that have always wanted him to fail. Been like that for years."

To me, that is not baggage. Baggage is getting into trouble about something, allegations of wrong doings, etc.

If that’s the case why won’t Bobo leave after this year? Why are we lame ducking a year? Who does he report to? Too bad Mitch Daniel’s wasn’t around anymore sounds like he was the only one with common sense here

Too late now. Coaches will be hired and in place within the next 5-10 days.

If Bobinski didn’t want to hold us back they had plenty of time to get his replacement in to hire the next coach. We’ve known the ship is sinking for 10 weeks and 9 games now.

How they were caught off guard by this I can’t understand

How about this: " Coach Prime has been getting a lot of haters since he got to Boulder."
Again, that’s not his baggage. That’s on the haters. Baggage is something that may have a potential the ability to hinder good coaching and players responding. Scandals fit that category. So far I don’t know if any scandals.

If I owned a pro football team, I would get the best coach. I would not care if he had been involved in ten scandals or was a dirty-mouth jerk. I would want a team that wins.

If I were the decision-maker at Purdue, the main qualities I want in a coach are someone who can be a Light and care for his kids off the field. He wants to produce quality adults who will contribute to society when their football days are behind them, whether or not they play pro ball. Once that is established, I want someone who can win football games.

Neon Deion was a jerk but a great coverage cornerback who could run back kicks. If he wanted to be a pro assistant, so be it.

Coach Prime has shown himself to be a Light to his players, and how he got the epiphany makes no difference. He tuned Colorado around, and I believe he will do that if we can convince him to come to Purdue.

Winner winner…. I think this is exactly why Walters isn’t gone now. He will be by the 4th or 5th gam next year.

BoBos contract has been used as the excuse over and over on this board. But BoBo got extended through June 2028, so it’s just not the case.

I am surprised that Sanders keeps being mentioned as a possibility. There is zero chance he would come to Purdue.

The question remains: who do we go after? What do we say to attract them?
1a) Ryan Silverfield we love what you're doing at Memphis, come coach against some of the best programs and coaches, we'll double your salary ( current 2.45 M/yr) and will give what you need for asst coaches

1b) Bronco Mendenhall we need you to rebuild the program and will pay you 4 mil/yr ( currently gets 1.2 M/yr ) and will give what you need for asst coaches
