My opinion on Purdue Football is well documented. We will NEVER be an OSU or UM Program. Ever. We will compete with them from time to time and have a string of good years, but never be a program like them. We will NEVER win a National Championship in football. IN fact, I'll go as far as to say we'll never make it in the CFPlayoffs. I'm okay with that.
What I'm not okay with losing to the likes of CMU, Marshall, IU etc...it just isn't acceptable on any level, in any year, on any surface, in any way, shape, or form.
My wish for Purdue Football is THIS. Let's go back to having fun. When I think of Coach Hazell, I don't think of "fun". I think of catchy little anecdotes (eggs, furnace, bricks etc...) and no wins. He's Jim Coletto all over again. (tombstones) I'd like to run an offense like Oregon. CONSTANTLY keep the other team guessing, even with 2 minutes left in the game up by 6. THROW THE BALL. Just play to win the game, screw all of the conventional wisdom stuff. If Coach Hazell thinks we can just play conservative football, we'll lose more than we'll win. We HAVE to be different. I don't see another way. Hire an innovator. We have nothing to lose at this point. Go for on on 4th and 3 at the 50. Fake punt. Fake kick. Onsides. Flee Flickers, bombs on 1st down, whatever...just mix it up. I'm willing to live with the result if I'm having fun.
