My humble opinion

"good" coach but can't get over the hump to elite status
Barely can get over the hump to "good" status...not even in the conversation of "great/elite" status.

He is who he is...if he has ultra-talented players, he looks great...if he does not, then he does not. There are far worse, and there are plenty better. Regardless, he is not going anywhere now or anytime soon.

To be fair. Purdue hasn't ever gotten over that hump.
While generally true, there have been a couple of exceptions...several with Keady, and certainly not the case when Hummel got hurt, as that Purdue team was absolutely great/elite.

It's a little ridiculous this team is 3-2. Considering we lost to Minny and Iowa, it's a very disappointing start to the B1G. I've always said, CMP recruits, but his game coaching is subpar. This team should be 5-0.
I am not sure on recruiting. When was the last time we had an above average PG? Chris Kramer?

Coaches that are subpar tacticians can have teams with talent and experience that get beat by teams with average or better tacticians for coaches.

Also, the players shouldn't have settled for so many perimeter shots, but that still ties to the coaching going on when the game is said and done.

No he's an above average coach that was on the losing side of a game. It's hilarious to see these posts come out of the woodwork after a loss, but when we beat a very good UW team and O$U on the road, you all were oddly silent.

Then I guess Izzo is a subpar tactician right? They've had some bad losses so they totally fit your description here. Or maybe it is you are over-reacting and have no idea as to what you are talking about? Seems much more plausible.

because we are supposed to win those games, as well as unranked and bad teams on the road. This team has looked awful in its Big Ten road games, lucky to beat OSU, gave 1 away AT HOME to MINN and now lose to a 4 freshman Iowa team.

Inexcusable. I am sure glad that you are approving of a, come Monday, likely unranked team, but some of us are not. That is not acceptable.

The big ten is down this year, or atleast, that is the national perception, and perception is reality. This team will almost assuredly not win the big ten now with these bad losses, and last year's big ten winner got a 6 seed. You do the math to where that will land us come March

Ummm... MSU is in 1st place with most of their team being freshmen.

When Matt Painter goes to 7 Final Fours he will no long be second guessed. People get so mad at Painter because, and mark my words, how we lose these games in January will be the same exact way we lose a game in March.

I recently read an article somewhere on the internet that stated this is exactly the type of team that Tom Izzo would win a national championship with. I thought it was an interesting blurb, and I do agree with that piece.

Izzo would crush the Big Ten with Haas and Caleb on his side. The piece pointed out that Painter wasn't too good of a coach.

That's nothing new. We are what we are.

The B1G was down last year based on tourney performance. If it's worse this year, a lot of people are going to be disappointed.
