Not going to comment on the game in general...just our two recruits.

Too bad Danielle Cuttino isn't going to play basketball for Purdue, but I'll bet she's going to be a heckuva defender at the net in volleyball. Not a strong basketball presence offensively, but if there were +/- stats for this game, she'd undoubtedly be at the top of that stat. Whenever she was in, KY really struggled in the paint. I counted at least four big blocks, and I'm sure she altered at least that many more shots that fell off the rim. This was definitely a game of runs, and it seemed like every KY run came when she was on the bench. I think she ended up with around 10 RBs, probably tops for either team.

Wish I had as much to say about our only basketball recruit playing in the game, but Erica Moore didn't get many minutes (maybe the least on the team?), and the only "statistics" I had for her time on the floor was how many times she was beaten on a back door play (2), and how many times she was beaten down the floor by her KY counterpart to allow an easy basket (at least twice, and on one of them she also committed a foul after arriving late to the defensive position). She's a big girl, and maybe that size will pay dividends in the B1G, but in this high school All-Star game she was repeatedly out-quicked on almost every play. You can see the potential there, but she's either got to lose some weight to pick up some quickness, or hope our B1G competition forces a heavyweight matchup that she can compete in.

Thanks for reporting

If I remember right, Miss Moore had major knee surgery. Could be a factor. If she has the tools she'll need to learn to play D at this level. That's the same with many kids out of HS it seems though.

Thanks for reporting, it's nice to get current stuff.

I saw the JR SR game in Logansport and I thought she need to get in better shape also. The three Jrs looked GREAT.

Apparently she played much better last night in Indianapolis--the Indy Star reporter was very complimentary about her in his article about the game--

Will see if I can get the link to post--if not, it's in today's Indy Star....

Thanks for the followup. Really glad to see my one game experience was probably just the rust still coming off from the lack of play and knee injury. Anyone know what kind of injury she had? Was there surgery?

Moore is an extremely talented player. She was the favorite to win Miss BBall heading into her senior season and then she tore her meniscus right before the season started and it forced her to miss 90% of the year. She needs to fully recover and then start getting into basketball shape. Which she will this summer. Before she was injured scouts raved about her college ready body that can bang down low in the Big Ten. This was an all star game and I'm sure everyone around her, including Versyp, told them to player her sparingly. It's not worth re-injuring her knee for this game.

I don't think you can take anything from these games given the circumstances.
