Mueller indicts 12 Russians in 2016 DNC hack

3
The 400-pound mystery man: At the first presidential debate, on Sept. 26, 2016, Trump sought to cast doubt on reports that Russia was behind the hacking of the Democratic National Committee — reports since confirmed by the intelligence community.

“I don't think anybody knows it was Russia that broke into the DNC,” Trump said at the time. “She’s saying Russia, Russia, Russia, but I don’t — maybe it was. I mean, it could be Russia, but it could also be China. It could also be lots of other people. It also could be somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds, OK? You don’t know who broke into DNC.”

“Maybe there is no hacking”: At the second presidential debate on Oct. 9, 2016, Trump again implied that Russia was not behind the hacking.

“She doesn’t know if it’s the Russians doing the hacking,” Trump said of Clinton. “Maybe there is no hacking. But they always blame Russia. And the reason they blame Russia because they think they’re trying to tarnish me with Russia. I know nothing about Russia. I know — I know about Russia, but I know nothing about the inner workings of Russia. I don’t deal there. I have no businesses there. I have no loans from Russia.”

“A laughing point”: In an interview with Time Magazine on Nov. 28, 2016, Trump said of Russia: “I don’t believe they interfered. That became a laughing point, not a talking point, a laughing point.”

“Nobody really knows for sure”: In a news conference in Poland on July 6, 2017, Trump stated: “Well, I think it was Russia and I think it could have been other people and other countries. It could have been [that] a lot of people interfered.” But, he added, “nobody really knows for sure.”

“He vehemently denied it”: “I strongly pressed President Putin twice about Russian meddling in our election. He vehemently denied it. I’ve already given my opinion,” Trump wrote on Twitter on July 9 after meeting twice with Putin in Germany.

“He said he didn’t meddle … I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it”: After meeting with Putin in Asia, Trump spoke at length with reporters and again cast doubt on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

“He said he didn’t meddle,” Trump said. “He said he didn’t meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times. But I just asked him again, and he said he absolutely did not meddle in our election. He did not do what they’re saying he did.”

“Putin said he did not do what they said he did,” Trump added later. “And, you know, there are those that say, if he did do it, he wouldn’t have gotten caught, all right? Which is a very interesting statement.”

Trump continued: “Every time he sees me, he says, ‘I didn’t do that.’ And I believe — I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it. But he says, ‘I didn’t do that.’ I think he’s very insulted by it, if you want to know the truth. Don’t forget, all he said is he never did that, he didn’t do that. I think he’s very insulted by it, which is not a good thing for our country.”

Are you sure you went to Purdue? You seem to have a lot of trouble understanding basic facts.
35 - I just read all of what you copied and pasted. Where did Trump lie? You seem to think the AG filed charges against Trump today. Tell me the basic facts that I'm having trouble understanding. Notice the key word there - facts. Not what you think or assume but facts.

I say wtf. Russia hacked into HRC's computer and was thus able to gain access and hack into the DNC emails through individual computers.
Is this some sort of revelation? Is the FBI going to charge all the individuals from all the other countries that were able to and probably did hack into the unsecure server used by HRC.
If evidence pops up that Russia was behind the release of those emails to wiki leaks than i would say Russia had an influence on the election. However, the emails should have been obtained by the FBI. They were subpoenaed by the FBI and destroyed by HRC. Justice was served imo.

Trump continues to provide cover for a hostile nation attacking our country. He knows that Russia did it, our intelligence community knows Russia did it, the Senate Intelligence Committee knows Russia did it, everyone with their head not in the sand knows Russia did it.

So you have no facts. That's what I thought.

"there is no allegation in this indictment that Americans knew that they were corresponding with Russians. There is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy changed the vote count or affected any election result".

This seems like the type of stuff the IC should be preventing and not take almost 2 damn years to find 12 Russians.

Just keeps getting more and more embarrassing for Mueller
Your service to the Kremlin will not be forgotten.

it's a fact that Russia attacked our country, it's a fact that Trump won't admit that they attacked our country, and continue to attack our country.
I think you're having trouble with the definition of fact just like you did with the Breitbart website.

Let me explain. First, its not a fact that Russia attacked our country. The only fact we know as of today is that our justice department charged 12 Russian intel guys with hacking the dems. That is not proof that they did - only that they've been charged. Second, Trump's comments about not knowing if/what the Russians did or didn't do came before today so how could he admit they did do something when that has yet to be proven true? Seems to me he was being very prudent and not jumping to conclusions before the investigation was over.

Our intel community seems unanimous that they did. POTUS says he doesn't trust our intel community, but believes Putin (former KGB station chief) when he says they didnt. Im curious which one you are more inclined to believe?

Well the diploma in my home office says I did so...

And I'll certainly be writing a bunch of checks to Purdue now that my oldest will be a freshman there this fall.
I heard it's free tuition when you vote democratic.

Russian bots continue to attack our populace on social media, your comrades on the right are so ill-informed and ripe for the picking that it’s incredibly effective.

The KGB/FSB have a term for westerners who blindly parrot the propaganda that is pushed by the Russians. It's Полезный идиот. You can look it up to translate. ;).

Breitbart used a “black crime” tag so their readers could view the articles together about black crime in one section. You’re arguing semantics, don’t be dense.

The reports from CIA/FBI/NSA/DIA were months before Trump said he trusted Putin over our intel agencies. And do you think its prudent to trust the word of a country carrying out such attacks? Do you really believe "yes Donald, we did it" was a possible answer?

Your sense of prudence amuses me.

Well when you have people like Strzok leading the FBI, I think I'd be a little skeptical too.

Again, the President didn't say he was skeptical of both Russia and our intel agencies. He said he believed Russia. So again, do you personally believe Putin or our Intel agencies, generally speaking? I'm not asking if you have some incremental degree of skepticism of our spooks (everybody should have a little)? I'm asking if Russia tells you one thing and our intel community says the opposite, which are you inclined to believe? If Strzok gives you some pause, I'm wondering if the folks that use Novachuk and Polonium on their detractors gives you more concerns.

Wait, what?

Trump calling the investigation a "witch hunt," meaning it has no merit, was prudent, but now his view may change?

I would bet the intel community, that he has been hearing from since before his inauguration, and attacking, has better info than Mueller.

Like your cohorts, who are silent right now, you should go dark until the conservative media comes up with a new narrative ya'll can come on here and spew.

Trump was briefed on the indictments coming today. He still called the investigation a rigged witch hunt and referenced maybe being Putin’s friend after that briefing.

Oh no! Deflect, deflect, deflect. Once again your lazy argument is torn to shreds. If you had the capability to understand how badly you guys get owned in each discussion it’d be funny, but instead it’s just a little sad.

Well Hannity ends at 9:59pm, so you should hold off for the next 3 hours.

The thing I find interesting is that as this thing inches towards a real political disaster for the administration, there is zero hedging on the part of his supporters. In fact, the the doubling down gains intensity.

Years ago I was at a Republican conference where I met an old California GOP guy that worked for Nixon. He told me "never let '74 happen again." He explained "never go ALL IN on a President if it looks like hes going to go down and take the party with him. Always leave yourself an OUT".

Sadly, few on our side are doing that.

Ha, it might go later than 10:00 but whenever it is they will be on point, and one of the most fascinating aspects will be that somewhere in the days to come will be the accusation, implied or outright, that everyone else suffers from groupthink.

Interesting take on Nixon, thanks for sharing.

I'm from the Reagan era.

- Trust the US intel community
- Do not trust the Russians
- Support our NATO allies
- Dispise the conspiracy-theorizing crazies
- Believe in free trade
- Understand the idiocy of tariffs
- Distrust guys that cheat on their wives (and paramours)
- Treat political advisories with grace and diplomacy
- Have a thick skin and joke with self-deprecating humor

I could go on, but you get my point.

The term conspiracy theorist was coined by the cia to discredit people who were on to shit they were actually doing.

So you believe in always shipping jobs to poorer people in more desperate situations, combining the capital of wealthy Americans with the cheapest labor on earth .. while cutting out the American working class (what’s left of it)...

What you wrote is called neoliberalism, which most of this country hates.. neoliberalism is how you got trump

I can't seem to go 24 hours without at least 1 QAnon conversation. So the 9-11-was-an-inside-job lot are to be called what? Scenario speculators?

Your straw man distillation of my views on matters of commerce are...amusing.

Truth on 9-11? I don’t know... there’s no proof of anything .. but I do like to start with the idea that the powerful are lying and Work back from there.

To the response, “they would never,” I give you this, done by the mainstream media (and there never has been a media that wasn’t more of a lapdog to power).

So... “use the Kuwaiti lie to the American public about babies being massacred so that we can start a war the American people don’t want, enrich our military friends, and get some oil for our fossil fuel friends... oh, against a guy we armed to fight Iran to begin with”

A) conspiracy theory?
B) a big ass fact that is a truthful characterization of what your white washed powerful intelligence community actually does?

Wanna talk CIA planning to bomb Miami in a false flag operation so they could pin it on Castro? Cause that was in the Kennedy papers.., but.. they would never.. those are the “good guys,”

“They were taking babies...” “I’m the pathetic daughter of a member of the sociopathic global elite... the shit I’m actually doing if ever characterized as what it actually is... is just a bunch of wackos theorizing...” “the baaaaaaabies”

You know what your sociopaths are saying now right? “Assad gassed his own people so even though the us supports 73% of the worlds dictators and even though we couldn’t give a flying F what those dictators do to their people .. and even though we torture people .., we have to make it better by bombing those same people.”

That’s your crispy clean intel community.., and of course if you bring up the fact that us and British elites coincidentally want to run a pipeline through Syria.. you’re a “conspiracy theorist”

My characterization of free trade is what it actually is.. any time you want I’ll take you to decimated industrial towns and show you free trade .. then we can go to highland park Illinois so you can see that it’s all so that those people don’t have to have just one “family yacht”... each kid can have their own yacht...

Scheffler,

Thanks for the clear position statement. I have been a big fan of Reagan since 1980.

That said, nearly unfettered free trade has been disastrous for our nation. Since China was allowed into the WTO, the US has basically turned China into a superpower by stealing our IP and running annual trade deficits in the hundreds of billions. They are not our friends and they want to supplant the US as THE world superpower. The trade deficit with China was something like $507B last year. How is this good or healthy for our nation? It is Ross Perot’s “giant sucking sound” of jobs come to life. It’s hollowed out the American middle class. I, like Trump, am not anti-trade. I just want fair trade. Stop stealing IP. Stop putting huge tariffs on our products while demanding small tariffs on yours.

NAFTA has been a failure. If the idea was to build up Mexico why have millions of Mexicans still flooded our nation since its inception?

Are you also an open borders subscriber? If so,how do you justify that?

We do trust our NATO allies. But it’s disingenuous to say that they haven’t taken advantage of the USA’s generosity for years. The USA contributes about $700B a year of NATO’s total $1T budget. They can’t find it in their hearts to do their fair share and contribute the 2% of of GDP? The USA contributes 3.5% of a much larger number. Why must the US protect Germany when their armed forces are falling apart (they spend 1.1% of their GDP, while letting a million+ Muslim migrants into their country). Why should the US basically pay for German social programs? In essence, that is what has been happening for years. The take it for granted that the USA will always do the heavy lifting for them. If Russia is such an enemy of Europe, why isn’t Europe doing more to protect themselves from Russia? That is all Trump is saying.

Tariffs are not a long-term solution but they can be effective short-term to force trade imbalance corrections and make trade fairer and more reciprocal. No one wants large-scale trade wars. Not us. Not China. Not Europe.

I never assumed you supported Trump...I simply turned your skills at oversimplification back from where it came.

Are the powerful "always lying"? That must be a pretty debilitating mental framework to operate out of. I'd shoot more down the middle with "occasionally-to-sometimes-lie". But "always" seems a little tin-foil-chafing-the-ears territory.

As to other matters of CIA activities, there's likely nothing you can cite that I'm not aware of. I've read the Church Committee files backwards and forwards. I get it...we do bad things sometimes.

So you think we invaded Iraq due to story's of child abuse, or maybe a hostile threat to oil supplies?

Well if “we do bad things sometimes” (you sound like that dopey sell out with his “we tortured some folks”...) then it’s kinda hard to get righteous about trump and all the regular shit he works with the one party system to accomplish ...

You brought up 9-11 as though everything IS a conspiracy theory unless I can prove a 9-11 conspiracy.. I countered with an example of what we do. And I’m sure before that media report if someone said “hey this is what happened”.. conspiracy theorist.

You’re aware we do bad things.. that the people who do those things then brand others as conspiracy theorists for pointing out..

I never said unfettered free trade. I lean more heavily on free trade vs protectionism. Tariffs just breed more tariffs. There are few situations where they result in a net positive. The work if you implement them and your trading partner doesn't reciprocate. And we know how often countries refuse to fire back.

Not an open borders advocate. I'm for increasing legal immigration with a focus on high-skilled visa fast-tracking...like Sweden 1990s. Ok with true hardship asylum seekers...aka: not economic opportunism.

I liked what Trump is doing forcing Europe to up their commitment to defense spending. I just don't trust anything between him and the Russian state. It's weird...even many conservatives have cited how strange his treatment of Russia is relative to our allies. Maybe if Mueller reports a clean bill of health on him, I'll feel better. Right now, I find it hard to believe people on are side are so bewitched by him that they can't see this glaring inconsistency.
