MSU Maybe not that bad....

Izzo was there. He wasn't whining to the officials quite as much as usual, so maybe his family was on his mind a bit. I can't comment on losing a father, but I can't imagine it would be easy to be in Iowa City when that just happened.

IMO, Valentine is more valuable to that team that just about anyone else in the country is to their team. They put up a stat last night and his numbers are as good as Magic's were at MSU.

Tom Izzo did appear subdued just a little bit to me, understandably, He had a few conversations with Steratore. No matter if it's expected, unexpected, whatever the case, it is never easy to deal with losing your father. He's a great coach......I know there's animosity where he is concerned.....I've used instances with the officials for humor.....but my prayers and sympathies for him and his family. And it was a very nice thing for Iowa to do with a moment of silence before the game to recognize the situation.

As to Valentine, I've thought the last couple of years, he's been a key contributor a little under the radar.....and this year it's come into light. He is darn good and plays with heart......Stats are nice, and he will do well at the next level I think........but.....he is no Magic Johnson.... no one is. I guess it's been a generation now almost, and people are forgetting how good Earvin Johnson really was. To this day, if I was given one player to start a team......give me Earvin "Magic" Johnson in his prime.
