I would say you don't have a clue. He’s just there. And he’s shooting 29% from the field.
IntangiblesHe’s just there. And he’s shooting 29% from the field.
I trust your expert judgement more than Painter's. Thanks for weighing in.He’s just there. And he’s shooting 29% from the field.
Morton's shot is visually unappealing. Not sure he can fix it at this point. Still trying to figure out how he won MrBBall in PA.Morton definitely needs to spend some overtime working on his shot. IDK, maybe our strengthening and conditioning program is too intense or something because no one is shooting all that well. Don't know what our S&C program is during the season, I am sure many will probably disagree with me, but I am not a big fan of doing lots of weights while the season is on-going.
Morton, Newman and Loyer need to play big minutes at the two and three because we literally don't have anyone else. We can't play with just two guys at the 2 and 3. Has Jenkins or Waddell done anything to earn minutes? I don't see more minutes for Jenkins other than a few to give Smith a break. I think Waddell has probably seen his last meaningful minutes for the year. That leaves 80 minutes for Morton, Newman and Loyer. Morton's minutes could drop a few and Newman's go up a few, but Morton has got to play.Morton does need to start taking a more active role on the offensive end, playing 5 on 4 isn’t feasible moving forward. I love the intangibles he brings but he needs to shoot more and show other teams he can score. I think he’s a 13-15 minute player at this point, he plays good defense but I wouldn’t play him more than 15 minutes a night right now.
Watch carefully on offense. Opponents don't even bother guarding Morton and just drop off him into the lane. It has gotten so bad his teammates even look him off when he is wide open. He has to be some kind of threat or the offense is too easy to defend.Morton, Newman and Loyer need to play big minutes at the two and three because we literally don't have anyone else. And as Matt has said before, when you get a team and Ethan is playing for you I think you do that. He’s just there. And he’s shooting 29% from the field.
Can Mason play some at the 3? He’s not that tall, can handle the ball and can shoot some from outside. Gillis is probably 6-5, not sure why he’s just limited to the 4.Morton, Newman and Loyer need to play big minutes at the two and three because we literally don't have anyone else. Huge disparity for assist/turnover ratio.I want offense much more than defense. You can’t win if you don’t score. Newman 25 minutes and Morton 15.
Boiler Buck... I typically agree with you but this is were I might disagree. Having a guy like Edey creates an opportunity for a guy like Morton. Morton's current role offensively is to feed the post, swing the ball and shoot the wide open three pointer (he literally has 11 two point attempts all year). Without a legitimate superstar like Edey I'm not sure there is a role on some teams for a guy like Morton especially if he's not hitting his threes. I think Rutgers would be Exhibit A.Morton likely would start or be a key reserve for every B10 team..... he's just that good.
Agree. He makes the right pass, plays top tier defense and gets our offense set. I believe the loss was from a struggling young back court that wasn't ready for the toughness of Rutgers. My assumption is that changes throughout the year.Huge disparity for assist/turnover ratio.
This is exactly why you can't have 4 perimeter players with zero off ball slashing/cuts. Caleb seems to do it, but this might be Mason's only downgrade on offense.Boiler Buck... we've both to the same number of Final Fours.I trust your expert judgement more than Painter's. Thanks for weighing in.
How many Sweet Sixteens and Elite Eights have you been to?we've both to the same number of Final Fours.
Gee. You now have credibility.we've both to the same number of Final Fours.
You have an open invitation to come to my home any time Purdue is playing or not and sit and talk Bball with/to me.This is exactly why you can't have 4 perimeter players with zero off ball slashing/cuts. Caleb seems to do it, but this might be Mason's only downgrade on offense.
We just can't depend on that perimeter pass coming out of the paint like Williams did. Zach seems to get doubled then it force's a perimeter pass that he's not great at....yet. This team desperately needs that off ball slasher/cutter.
