More Carsen...

Judging by their description of his game, he should provide a drastically different look at the 2 than Mathias/Cline. Will be interesting to see how minutes end up going between those 3 and also how often we see any of them on the court together. Also how often we see a lineup without either PJ or Spike out there.

Especially with the earlier story how we would see more Mathias and Cline on the floor together.

Look for some points in the game where we see a lineup as follows: 1-Spike or PJ, 2-Cline or Carsen, 3-Dakota, 4-Vincent, 5-Biggie. I could see this group closing out games.

If Carsen appears to be playing the off guard spot more this season, I wouldn't mind seeing this lineup:
G: Albrecht
G: C Edwards
G: Smotherman
G/F: Edwards
C: Swanigan

This lineup would be able to finally out-athlete most other teams they would face. Not sure the viability of it but strictly looking at the athletic ability, this is probably the most athletic lineup Purdue can put on the floor.

Got a glimpse of Carsen on Saturday. My takeaway? Guy likes to shoot. Likes to shoot often.

I like him as a sixth man off the bench when the offense starts off timid and is looking for someone to attack and look to score off the dribble. Seems like he could have a few hot games where he could carry the offense for short stretches but he'll probably also have many freshman moments where you wonder what he was thinking when he decided to shoot that shot or force a drive against that defense. Like any freshman, I think he's got a learning curve.

I still think CE will be better utilized as a 1. Coach Painter just has to tailor his halfcourt approach to accommodate the shooting abilities of CE and Thompson.

I think he will be a one, in a year or two. Two guard is a great place to cut your teeth as the responsibility is less and his scoring nature is a natural fit to the position. With more experience he could be a hell of a point.
