Golden Rodents up 14-10 at half and played really well after falling behind 10-0. Gophers already have 120+ rushing yards and have been getting a good push up front. Love the 4th down play call on their first scoring drive.

I wonder why Minnesota didn't call timeout and set up a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Maybe they figured the sack on the previous play pushed them out of range.

OSU's defense just needs to settle down and fill gaps. Their offense already came out firing on all cylinders after halftime. I'm expecting to see OSU roll in the 2nd half.

Edit: unless OSU's secondary continues to play this poorly, who knows...

Yeah, I keep waiting for OSU to take over, too. But so far Minnesota has come up with an answer for every Buckeye strike. We'll see how long they can keep pace.

Yeah, I really don't want the boat rower to get momentum again this year. Unfortunately, it looks like he's got a pretty good team despite him.
Minnesota looks good upfront offensively. But a huge strip returned for a td has given OSU a good cushion.

Not the mismatch that many expected, and, impressive what Fleck has done in terms of size/skill in that regard...Minnesota poured money into the program and Fleck has proven thus far to be up to the task.

Yeah. Have a feeling they better make noise this year because I don't see them with enough depth to replace the entire OL and a stud RB next year.

And as much as I think Tanner Morgan made hay throwing to NFL wide receivers for 3 years with Tyler Johnson and Batemon, he is at least a capable QB.

They're starting to move the chains through the air down two tds.

Minnesota got screwed on turnover which should have been targeting! Wow, reviewed and still got screwed. Now they know how we feel.
Terrible non call and worse no call in review! Holy cow!!!

OSU has to improve their tackling if they want to be in the national championship mix. Minnesota got a lot of yards after contact tonight.

Minnesota has to improve their coverages. The Gophers gave up too many big passing plays in the second half.

OSU was missing starting center and both starting CBs

OSU scored 38 offensive points and gained 495 yards off just 48 offensive plays. The Buckeyes offensive touchdowns were:
71 yard run
38 yard pass
56 yard pass
70 yard pass
61 yard pass

Their other td came on a 32 yard fumble return.

No doubt O$U has some weapons but the announcers reported that Minny gave up something like 27 plays of over 25 yards in last years short season.

Some people agree with Gus. It absolutely should not have been called targeting.

I thought he used his shoulder to hit the Minnesota WR. His head snapped back with the hit but I did not see helmet-to-helmet contact in that play.
Agreed. I'm also not really sure what defenders are supposed to do anymore. I get helmet to helmet. But I'd love to understand how a defender is supposed to know when a ball carrier decides he's going to lower his head...

I think there was a consensus that ejection should not be the result of such a subjective call. Make it a 15 yarder. If the play is deemed excessive make it unsportsmanlike which would result in an ejection on the second flag.

That sounds like a good compromise to me. I'm all for player safety, but I also agree with 1969 that there are times when the ball carrier shifts his position suddenly, and the tackler has already committed to a trajectory. I don't know what the call should have been last night, but it seems like guys have been tossed for similar hits in recent years.

Absolutely. Minnesota has to clean that up if they want to challenge in the West.

Most experienced OL in the country. Thought I heard 128 starts between them? That insane
Faalele is back .. without him bring out Minnesota is a whole different team last year. He even engulfed George a lot two years ago.. did far better than anyone else

Yeah, he's a monster of a man. But he was out for a bit early in the 2nd half and Minny was still moving the ball. I'm not sure yet if it was Minny's offense or if OSU's D was a bit suspect. Their secondary didn't play well. And they missed a ton of tackles.

The issue with teams like Ohio state (I think we will play well against ND for this reason) is they do sacrifice some experience because of the constant merry go round of elite talent leaving for the nfl… they are susceptible to getting hit early for this reason .. while young players are getting comfortable.

I am kind of looking forward to seeing GK go up against ND's freshman LT in his 3rd career start.

I’m looking forward to Gk Anytime he lines up … he’s surpasses koutivides, Beasley, schweigert and DJ Knox as my all time favorite boiler …

could have gone and started at Clemson and he came here
