Lets have some fun with this. Whinny MSU and Izzo come to Purdue Saturday. Who wins the game and what will the score be?

I am looking forward to hearing the Paint Crew and what fun things they say.

I kinda think this one could become an old-school Big 10 knock-down drag-out.

70-67 Boilers

Going to be another tough game. We could see another close win or home upset. This is still MSU and Izzo. Like them or hate them, they are still a team that finishes the season strong usually. I think we pull out a close one: 70-67.

Generally, I am relieved but a little uneasy when the Boilers win a game in Mackey in large part due to favorable officiating. I would love to see Sparty get routinely screwed by the officials on Saturday. I don't care whether the Boilers "deserve" it or not. I want to see Izzo's head explode.

MSU is going to be tough but I believe the Boilers will win. Too much from Haas and Biggie. Purdue 73 MSU 63

I think we see one of the Boilers best performances of the season.
81-62 Boilers.
Dakich loves it.

Purdue 82 MSU 71. More tears will be shed from Izzo and Jud.

Close first half, not so much in the 2nd. Purdue 76, MSU 62
I think this is what will happen as well. MSU will hang close but their lack of depth on the front line will catch up with them. With Vince playing up to potential finally and Biggie not getting off the rails, I think Purdue also pulls away towards the middle part of the second half.

Purdue 75
MSU 65

I was surprised by the game preview on this site that the Spartans lead the conference in field goal shooting percentage in conference games, yet they are only 9th in scoring.

Will be a tougher game than many people think. Hopefully we break out of our mini shooting slump. If we don't, it could be interesting.

BWolf,

Yes; that seems surprising. Digging into some other stats might shed some light. Michigan State is dead last in turnovers (14.8/g) and second to last in turnover margin to Indiana. MSU is 12th in FT%, and uncharacteristically for an Izzo-coached team, not that strong on the offensive glass, 13th (but 4th in rebounding margin).

So, looks like they are not getting as many second chance opportunities, losing some ground at the FT line, and are just a notch worse than the Boilers in kicking away possessions with turnovers.

Despite that, I expect a hard-fought contest tomorrow.....Boilers need to be ready.

They lack the veteran leadership this year to change their tempo like Izzo frequently likes to do. Even though Tum Tum is seasoned, I still find him frequently making poor mistakes. Their freshman PG is a better overall player BUT is still going through some major growing pains...something we as Purdue fans haven't had a lot from Carsen (as he hasn't been really thrust in to a starring PG role much outside of Spike's injury). From the games I have seen, it appears Izzo has slowed the tempo down from years past thus cutting their scoring down BUT still having a high shooting percentage.

This young MSU squad has won 4 of last 5 since we played them (with a big loss against rivals Mich). MSU is also playing for their chance to make the NCAA. As such, I think this game will be much harder than most anticipate.

We need to play with hunger and the sense that we have something to prove. Otherwise, it's a game we can lose. Bring that focus and energy that we've demonstrated these last few games and I think we win a close one.

75-70

I wouldn't make too much of them winning four of five. They split with their rival home and home and beat Nebraska Iowa and Ohio State of which only Nebraska was on the road.

It's a decent stretch for them but let's not pretend they are on the verge of a FF run or something. They are a bubble team who we beat on their home court and frankly doesn't match up well with us. I think if we shoot our average or better we win comfortably.

I think it's a tough game and Purdue has to get 70+ to win. I think Ward gets shut down and in foul trouble but Brodges goes off for 20+. I don't think we see good Vince, but Biggie, DM, and CE carry the squad. A win by 5 points but the game feels closer.

One of his eyes popped out last week , but I think they were able to get it back in ok.

I agree....have bad VIBES about this one........think we win a tight one.........Hoping we do what Mich just did to them.........Mich is a team looking good right now.

Like the last time, Ward is the key - Now that Isaac's and Vince's health problems are better, Ward picks up 2-3 fouls in the first half (note: he has a tendency to leave his feet with a good fake biggie ! !) then exits with his 4th before the 10 minute mark. If our bigs stay out of foul trouble, it's O-VER at that point and we cruise to a 15 pt victory and send a message to the conference that we are ready to TAKE the big ten title ! !

I think we will see some early doubles on both Ward and Bridges along with an attempt to deny bridges the ball. Like a number of past games, we light it up from 3 in the first half - I am looking for 10-12 3s in this contest, with Vince having a big game ! Carsen will get his 10 -15pts, . . . more efficiently, than he has been and PJ will break out of his shooting slump at home.

This will be a game where we show sparty . . this is OUR HOUSE ! ! Prepare for roadkill ! ! Boiler up - Hammer down !

Nice call ! - looks like I got 2nd place (said 15 pts, Ward would get into foul trouble again and be a non-factor by 10 minute mark and Vince would have good game for us - his defense on bridges was important)
