If Michigan loses the next two games [NW and Neb] their overall record would be 19-12. Would they get into the NCAA tournament? The reason I ask is because I thought 20 wins was a minimum for the tournament??? Thanks.

Years ago there was an informal threshold of 20 wins. But I don't believe it was ever in the committee's selection rules or guidelines.

Vanderbilt, Oregon State, Syracuse and Texas Tech all got in last year despite getting less than 20 wins each (all were on 19)

If your name is Duke, UNC(heaters), or UK you can get a 4 seed or better and play near home with a 6 win season.

I think there were 8 teams with 14 to 19 wins last year.....not all of those were automatic qualifiers. Syracuse, Texas Tech, Oregon ST and Vandy were selections with 19 wins for example.

It also helps that this year appears to be very weak on the bubble; there will be some at-large teams with less than "stellar" (I use that term loosely) records, IMO. The flip-side of this is I would not be surprised if there were one or two bid steals coming out of Championship Week tournaments. The Big Ten itself could have one.

With the way UM has played over the last two weeks, I doubt the drop the Nebraska game and I think they probably get NW as well. That would get them 20 or 21 wins before the BTT which I would expect them to win one game there. No way do they leave out a top 5 or 6 Big Ten team.
