Michigan 74, Purdue 70, F (OT)

Anybody here think PJ is going to be starting PG next season is friggin delusional. He's a decent steady basketball player but no means a starting PG for a team that wants to be a National power. He will start next season but I GUARANTEE by start of Big 10 season he is a role player. He can help in that capacity but he isn't the guy to drive this engine. Not saying cause he clanked free throw(although that didn't help) Nice player, not a gamer sorry.

Painter likes his contributions too much. P.J. does do a lot of little and big things well. I'm just frustrated that he always seems to short-arm FT's at the end of close games.

There's always the possibility of adding a lead guard this offseason that's simply too good to leave off of the court. PJT could be a backup in that scenario. Otherwise, I expect Painter will continue to play him starter's minutes as a senior.

What other games has PJ missed big free throws in?

u r wrong! he has improved every year and is a solid PG. his defense / steals, high assist / turnover ratio, good 3 point shooting, and being a Senior with 3 years under his belt will almost guarantee that u are wrong. the FT hurt today but that is no reason for u and a load of other nay sayers to come on here and slam PJ. Dakitch is completely right about him....

He's missed some in games where Purdue pulled out close wins, but he wasn't the one that "iced it" for the Boilers:

0:05 left in 2nd half: http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/playbyplay?gameId=400915191

0:37 left in 2nd half: http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/playbyplay?gameId=400914984

Also, during Purdue's comeback bid in the loss at Michigan:

0:59 left in 2nd half (probably was out of reach but you never know; 2 made FT's there could spark something that would result in a different outcome): http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/playbyplay?gameId=400915059

Sorry newcomer better get used to the idea. First off, everybody likes PJ. He is a good basketball player and he can make a contribution to this team. It won't be the same role though so you better get mentally ready so you can handle it. Carsen is going to be playing heavy next year and your going to have a 6'5"' more athletic guard coming in next year also. PJ will start initially but his role will be different come B10 play for sure. The conservative play doesn't bode well as PG. Can't create off dribble, get to the hole effectively at all and teams will exploit his lack of height on defense.

The other free throw lover is was sort of right. PJ did make 3 or 4 ft down stretch I think against Penn St but the miss was a bad one also that kept them in the game till end. He's a good player, Purdue always has good players. We need a dynamic player to get past. This same situation plays again next week? Guess what, he won't hesitate to go to Spike exact situation. Painter likes PJ but now way allows this to happen in tourney next week, bank it. Some full court pressure also forbid.... Spike will have the ball in crunch time, bank it.
