Memphis drops Uconn

That was a foul like yesterday’s was, having said that I wish the assistant would have let Danny boy attack the ref.
Hurley is all show for the cameras/refs and thinks his clown-act works. I like how he made sure to chew his gum extra tough-guy style when he does his stare-down with the refs while being held back.

Truly one of the biggest extremely well paid as&ho@le$

Such a crap example of sportsmanship and character, you win, they pay, he does not give a $hi@

Too bad
Couldn't have said it better.

The guy is crazy. Some of it is an act, but he also thinks the rules don't apply to his short fuse. It won't surprise me if he goes into the stands like Ron Artest or throws a chair like Bobby K at some point.

Yeah and when he went at Zach and said......something........ I wouldn't have been mad if Zach just laid him out. He would have deserved it.

I was very glad to see they lost to Colorado as well.

On that over and back no call against colorado the video on espn showed his reaction. You could tell he wanted to murder the ref by the look in his eyes. Its the reaction of a 12 year old. To be honest he is worse than Fran in terms of melt downs and that is saying a lot. He probably will be fired eventually for hitting someone (coach, player, ref etc..).

Watching AL vs Houston the other night made me wonder why Mouhamed Dioubate did not play more against us? Dude played 28 minutes and had 16 R, just a monster game for the young sophomore. Had great D. Think prior to this game he was getting 3-12 minutes. Wondered if he has been injured? And is now ok?

Watching him, I was thinking, man that is the guy we need. He was beast mode all game.
Then I looked at his stats and saw he had been playing much.

Yeah. Not sure. He didn’t play much vs Illinois either. Is he just behind a few players in the rotation maybe?

Agree. Fran's meltdowns are extreme, but his are extreme with a smattering of asshat to boot. Hurely reminds me of a chihuahua.. small, annoying, likes to yap a lot but the tiniest of smack will send him running while he wets himself.

Connecticut had some bad losses last year. I remember some 15-18 point losses I think to Seton Hall and Creighton. I remember a lot of gloating on this board about those losses. This year's UConn is not nearly as talented, but don't gloat too soon.

They lost the seton hall game when Clingan got hurt. The Creighton game…well Creighton actually hit shots and were on fire.

This UConn team seems to be different at this point as they don’t have a rim protector and their guards aren’t anywhere near what they were the last 2 years.

I'm not sure I would call it gloating. I think most are just pointing out Hurley is a complete ass and it's nice when he loses. I don't think anyone would be surprised to see them make another long run in the tournament come March. He's very good at his job, he's just a complete jerk while doing it.

Stayed up late last night to watch UCONN go 0-3 in the islands. This time Dayton took them to the wood shed. Super recruit Liam McNeely held scoreless on 0-9 shooting.
I'll start off by saying what they accomplished the past two years was amazing. Very, very talented teams.

That being said I think you could see the drop off coming with this roster. Karaban has never been more than the 4th or 5th best guy on his team (would argue Spencer was better). A ton of new guys need to play to level they never had before.

What is funny is you would have been blasted for saying this in offseason in CBB world because it's UCONN baby, Hurley will 3 peat, he can't be stopped, they should be preseason #1, blah, blah, blah.

No, he just recruited an awesome, awesome roster over a 2 years span. He was a great coach with a great roster. Painter and 10-15 of the other great coaches in college probably would have won back to back titles with those teams loaded with NBA talent too. Hats off to Hurley and staff for building those teams and making them play at their highest potential, but when they don't have horses they are just another team.

I'll eat crow if they flip switch and I'm wrong too. Glad to see Hurley is a mortal man again.

Man. If you had said UConn would finish dead last in Maui, you would have been laughed at. But here we are. UConn scheduled a few not so good teams prior to this and get a great draw this side of the bracket by not drawing ANY top 25 teams anddd they go 0fer. Crazy. At this point, the Big East is Marquettes to lose. Obviously that can change.

Noticed several of these "ranked" teams getting beat. Just finding out who is for real and who were overrated. That and the so called underdogs get fired up to win.

Hopefully, Purdue comes to play today. I know NCST will be.

on a side bar, Creighton has lost 3 in a row
That's alright. Arkansas fell completely apart last year after lofty preseason expectations that included beating Purdue in a scrimmage.

More seriously, though, I don't read too much into any of it at this point. There's A LOT of basketball to be played between now and March. Purdue will no doubt hit a rough patch or two along the way.

Watching Dayton get 19 pts off of 12 turnovers against UNC in the 1st half and seeing the ultra aggressive offense/defense Memphis played against UCONN, so happy Painter was able to get games against Marq, Texas A&M and Auburn on the schedule. Will really get the team exposed to high levels of aggressiveness that they will face come March. I loved the way Memphis played today. They came to knock the king off the throne with no apologies and accomplished their mission.
There are some aggressive, physical, quick teams out there. I am anxious to see how we fit those adjectives next year. We're not quite there this year.

In fairness to UCONN, their 3 losses last year were all to NCAA Tournament teams on the road (@Kansas, @Seton Hall, @Creighton).

Seton Hall and Creighton were 15+ margins, but I wouldn't call either a "bad loss." Certainly no worse than Purdue losing by 18 @ Marquette.

Great points all around. We just got unlucky by getting to the FF and Championship game vs one of the best NBA-stacked teams in years. Too bad we didnt play the NC game vs a team like Texas Tech, like Virginia did.
