Maybe the Tyra meeting was to help a friend

i might be grasping at straws (I think he is as good as gone and has been since Petrino was fired) but...

The meeting at least allows Tyra to say to the fan base, “If not for my long-standing friendship with the Brohm family we don’t even get a meeting.” Tyra then can say “I did all I could but Jeff doesn’t want anything to do with the mess my predecessor (Tom Jurich) created.”

Had a coach interview for a job and said he wasn’t taking it but felt like he owed it to the AD (a personal friend).

If he did not at least meet with Brohm, there would have been hell to pay in Louisville. Tyra would be finished. Both meeting now saves face for him.

He would meet with him regardless out of respect for the school. I suspect if he agreed in principle today with them - and so far no one has said that - we’d hear rumors out of Louisville tonight. If it is largely quiet from reputable sources, I think that bodes very well for us. Purdue will have the last chance on their offer this afternoon, then he goes home and decides as a family what to do. I suspect either way he decides tomorrow and we all move on with our lives.

Well watching BTN tonight Pat Forde was asked about rumors of meeting today. Pat confirmed that meeting did occur. Coming from Louisville he reiterated again how much the Cards wanted Brohm and why Brohm would have an emotional tie. But then went on to say....”however” and went into a spiel listing many of the reasons Brohm and Family are so happy at Purdue as well as how REALLY good The AD and basically all of Purdue has been to Brohm. Said he really had no idea how this would shake out but feels it’s completed by tomorrow...He actually said by mid day or so and possibly but not likely by tonight.
Guess we’ll all know sooner or later..

I know a number of people mention this not only in this situation but beyond it. That concept just has never made much sense to me.
It's like being in high school and knowing a girl really likes you and wants to go to the big dance with you. So out of respect you call her for a week and ask her what her favorite flowers are and if she has a dress for the dance. Then as the dance draws near you tell her that you are still going to take your current girlfriend.
To me, if you weren't interested the respectful thing would be to just have originally said that you are flattered that she would like to go with you but you have a girlfriend that you're staying with.
Personally, I think CJB was/is interested and is deciding whether to break up.
