Wow!! Come on this substitution situation is horrid! Cannot keep Swanigan in when Purdue is down he's just not there offensively.

What I found even more absurd was the point where Aj hit those two big baskets to pull it within 6 and then proceeded to sit on the bench for the next 8 minutes. Talk about ruining the momentum, where was Davis and Edwards for that stretch too?

Very frustrating and I'm not even going to go into Kendall and his jacking it up constantly....

My exact same thoughts! His player rotation is head scratching to say the least! As for Kendall, should only being playing mop up duty! Can't play a lick of DEF either.

Painter has traditionally been poor at riding the hot hand. He really seems clueless on when and who to substitute. I still don't get the Painter love here. Really average coach who is throwing away his deepest team ever. He may get a run going at some point but it will be too little too late, we will end up on the 4-5 seed at best, and lose in the sweet 16 to the #1 seed... best case scenario, which is depressing.

If it was Kendall 'Stevens' or he had no parent named 'Everett' I am not sure they would keep a kid out there to shoot 25% with no D.

Average coach, below average recruiter. Not a good combo. I hope our next guy is really good at at least one of those.

Meh not sure about the recruiting I think he's actually sufficient there. However I'm really starting to wonder about his talent selection recruiting. It's becoming clearer everyday that he's in over his head coaching

Painter is a clueless wonder out there. Could you possibly come up with a worse gameplan? I mean my god. There is only one way a team with as much advantage as Purdue's one dimensional slowness loses this game. And Painter figured out the gameplan to get it done!

Its called put fat people out there who can't hold on to the dam ball and give the best player on the team as few a minutes as humanly possible. If the defense isn't working just why bother to change it up. Keep it the same until Illinois is up by 20 points. I tell yah what the only size advantage purdue has is who can pack down the most food at the all you can eat buffet. If only there was an NCAA tournament for which college can eat the most hotdogs in 5 minutes we'd be the proudest college in America in football and basketball.

I actually thought Stephens was playing better D and taking better shots lately, but tonight it wasn't so! It seemed like Illinois denied the ball inside and the team didn't have any idea what to do, and didn't look ready to play

The Boiler offensive = 1. Dribble around the perimeter with what looks like bad spacing or two guys standing next to each other. 2. Make some tentative passes inside where the ball gets knocked away. OR 3. Pull back said tentative pass and get trapped. OR 4. Get it to the post but 6' out and attempt an awkward hook shot.

If 1-4 fails, 5. sub in Cline or Stephens and hope they hit a few 3 point shots.

Whatever you do, under no circumstances, get the ball to an athlete and drive.

The way Painter coaches, which is park the center in the lane, makes it hard to drive to the hoop. Most teams will bring the big man out, and give someone some room to drive. Of course it's hard to drive on a zone, which most teams play against Purdue, due to Painters offense.

I think this is the WHOLE story. Look at how Bo used Kaminsky. We need to change things up every now and then. Let Swanigan and Edwards beat somebody off the dribble. Can't do that if there are already two people double teaming our bigs.

Wisconsin always had Kaminsky 25 feet from the basket, then he would sneak in there every time.

Not saying don't post up too, but when you got AJ or Isaac down low, the defense is there too.

You can't hold one player to one expectation and others to something different. I love biggie and he has tons of talent but when he is a turnover machine he needs to ride the bench. What we are seeing is Ronnie 2.0. Painter didn't hold Ronnie to the same standards as everyone else either. Biggie is a good kid but is not ready for the pressure he is under. This team has lost its chemistry because if poor coaching.

Painter sold his soul to get Biggie and promised Roosevelt the world. If he doesn't play him the guardian in the front row will not be happy.

Are you for real? He's the most consistent producer on the team outside of AJH and one of the only players who actually attacks the basket.

Against Michigan Biggie had turnovers and bad decisions 4x in a row down the floor. I'm not bashing biggie. I love his ability and potential but holding him to a different standard than other players wrecks team chemistry. After those 4 trips he took him out and we went on a run. You can see the team deflate. He is not ready for the pressure and responsibility on his shoulders. Any other player would have been pulled after 2 bad plays/decisions. I'm sure painter feels the pressure to give him as many minutes as possible. Painter IS the coach. It's his job to run the team and instead he is letting let's say a so called peer pressure run it. I'm sure he feels if he don't give the 5star enough playing time he won't get the 5star recruits. Double edged sword.
