Michigan fans are sure doing a lot of crying over last nights final 30 seconds. I'm sure if the roles were reversed we'd be upset too but wow, Twitter is full of a lot of upset people.
I seem to remember the ball bouncing off Trey Burke's big yellow shoe and out of bounds, but somehow they gave possession to Michigan! I think GRobIII traveled too before getting the winning shot off. I did think the reversal last night was the correct call, so they still owe us one or two to make things even. Maybe on the pass to Haas you swallow the whistle in the last few seconds, but to me the foul was too obvious to overlook. We were very upset at the overtime game a couple years ago in Mackey where GRIII hit that shot at the buzzer. There was a similar play that was overturned on replay where allegedly Stephens tipped the ball out of bounds. So, let 'em cry.
EXACTLY! As Purdue fans we can NEVER, EVER, EVEREVEREVEREVEREVER, apologize for getting a 50/50 call.I seem to remember the ball bouncing off Trey Burke's big yellow shoe and out of bounds, but somehow they gave possession to Michigan! I think GRobIII traveled too before getting the winning shot off. I did think the reversal last night was the correct call, so they still owe us one or two to make things even. Maybe on the pass to Haas you swallow the whistle in the last few seconds, but to me the foul was too obvious to overlook.
Reminds me a lot of the Villanova game at MSG a few years ago in terms of a surprise reversal changing things.Michigan fans are sure doing a lot of crying over last nights final 30 seconds. I'm sure if the roles were reversed we'd be upset too but wow, Twitter is full of a lot of upset people.
Exactly. They were only whistled for 10 fouls the entire game. If you don't want to get called for a foul, don't hammer a guy over the back. If they would have called fouls throughout the game, we would have been up 10 points at that pointEh Wagner wrapped up Haas every chance he had. Dude should have fouled out if they called anything and then hit Wagner with a few silly calls, which I saw as make up calls. Michigan fans said be more consistent, I say call fouls in the first place. Think we both have an argument to make, the officiating wasn't great but not too poor and hurt both sides at times.
only the braindead would not be able to discern who touched it last. The reversal call wasn’t really even that questionable. Once they had the correct angle , it was an easy call.
The foul on Wagner was a clear foul. Yes, it’s a judgment call, but a ref is suppose to call a game the same whether it’s the first minute or the final minute.
Knowing that Carbon dating and rock formations assume a linear continuation for projections of origin...and realizing that assumption may be in error...is there a chance that Lake Michigan was formed by a previous heartbreak?I think for the most part, Michigan fans are pretty respectable.
I agree.I think if Haas was able to catch the ball even tho Wagner fouled, they might have let it go. However, the foul clearly affected Haas ability to get the ball and it would have resulted in a turnover. At that point, you can't let it be a no call .
we see that a lot don't we ...where teh play never caused a change of possession and such...I think if Haas was able to catch the ball even tho Wagner fouled, they might have let it go. However, the foul clearly affected Haas ability to get the ball and it would have resulted in a turnover. At that point, you can't let it be a no call ...
Just my 2 cents.
Don't forget the phantom foul on Dakota on the 3-point shooter to draw them within 2. Later Dakota hit the deck on a 3-pointer and there was no call.Yeah, if you read the MgoBlog game thread, let's just say that they are not particularly happy with the referees. They conveniently forget.....
1) In the first half, Wagner absolutely HACKED Mathias, with a no call. You can actually hear the crowd go "Ohhhh" because they thought a foul was going to be called.
2) The resetting of the shot clock when Cline briefly touched the ball on a rebound before it went out of bounds. There should have only been 2 seconds left of the shot clock, instead Michigan got to inbound with a fresh 30.
3) On Haas's last free throw, the clock (3 seconds) does not start for a good 0.3 to 0.4 seconds until after the Michigan player gets the rebound and starts sprinting down the sideline. The shot would have had to have been taken at closer to half-court if it started when it was supposed to.
Also, as much as they are bitching about the last Wagner foul on Haas, I almost wonder if the call was for his actions before the pass was inbounded. We watched that segment in slow motion. When the ball is being thrown in, Wagner has his arm around Haas and is going over his back to try to deflect the ball. Just before that though, Wagner is literally holding Haas's right arm with linked elbows close to his chest. In real time, that was really only a half second before the ball was inbounded. The ref might have actually been calling a foul on that action, not the deflection.
This. However that foul was so obvious the official didn't really have a choice.I think if Haas was able to catch the ball even tho Wagner fouled, they might have let it go. However, the foul clearly affected Haas ability to get the ball and it would have resulted in a turnover. At that point, you can't let it be a no call ...
Just my 2 cents.
The reversal on the call last night was pretty easy to see and understand. I really didn’t hear any significant booing from the fans when the refs made the call. Yeah, if I were a Michigan fan, I wouldn’t like it. But it was the right call.
With regard to the foul call at the end, there were a couple of really blatant ones shown on replay where Haas didn’t get the “and one” or the call and was hacked pretty hard by Wagner and Treste. There were also a couple of phantom push off calls on VE during the course of the game. So I don’t feel bad about the call on Wagner at the end, even though he did have his hand wrapped around Haas.
