I just noticed this...as of now, they will only play 2 ranked teams...the whole year. They get Purdue at home, then @ Whiskey. what the hell...they play purdue, iu, whisky and msu once! arrrrrrrrrrg
It was pointed out before conference play began...a beyond friendly schedule and an incredible advantage...which is why the unbalanced schedule not only sucks (for lack of a better term), but is not equitable and it is not the first time that it will potentially have more of an impact on determining the conference champion.I just noticed this...as of now, they will only play 2 ranked teams...the whole year. I usually pay more attention to them due to where I live, but I guess I was sleeping on that. I hope they get slammed in the seeding. It was pointed out before conference play began...a beyond friendly schedule and an incredible advantage...which is why the unbalanced schedule not only sucks (for lack of a better term), but is not equitable and it is not the first time that it will potentially have more of an impact on determining the conference champion.
Sounds silly but I feel the Big Ten is becoming more like the ACC only in the sense that the conference tourney champ is considered the conference champion. Too many teams! It was pointed out before conference play began...a beyond friendly schedule and an incredible advantage...which is why the unbalanced schedule not only sucks (for lack of a better term), but is not equitable and it is not the first time that it will potentially have more of an impact on determining the conference champion.
Not silly at all...the regular season championship is still something to celebrate, but, it is not nearly as meaningful as it once was...nor does a team have to run the proverbial gauntlet to win it any longer like it once had to.Sounds silly but I feel the Big Ten is becoming more like the ACC only in the sense that the conference tourney champ is considered the conference champion. While you feel like the conference tourney champ is the accepted champ, and I don't necessarily disagree with that, but, personally, I think either is not necessarily reflective of the best team...the tournament cheapens the regular season championship, but the schedule does as well as we have discussed...but, no guarantee that the conference tournament addresses that either.
It will never happen, largely because the conference has too many teams, but I would love to see the genuine round robin regular season format.
This is the exact reason I lost admiration for the regular season crown. It has just lost it's luster since the schedule can be so poorly balanced.I just noticed this...as of now, they will only play 2 ranked teams...the whole year. Not the first time. IU won the B1G last year in large part because they played #2 MSU, #3 Maryland and #3 Purdue only once and the Purdue and Maryland games were at home. Only Illinois (82) had an easier conference SOS than IU's 81.It was pointed out before conference play began...a beyond friendly schedule and an incredible advantage...which is why the unbalanced schedule not only sucks (for lack of a better term), but is not equitable and it is not the first time that it will potentially have more of an impact on determining the conference champion.
so where is home?I usually pay more attention to them due to where I live, but I guess I was sleeping on that. I hope they get slammed in the seeding.
It's the same thing that gave the Hoosiers there last title. It very well may do so for Mary.I just noticed this...as of now, they will only play 2 ranked teams...the whole year. They get Purdue at home, then @ Whiskey. what the hell...they play purdue, iu, whisky and msu once! arrrrrrrrrrg
Would rather have 2 divisions where you play the other 6 teams in your division home-and-away and then the other division one time each. Adds 1 game to the conference season that way but I think the division titles at least become somewhat meaningful then.
Like you said, it will never happen though.
daughter in Frederick, Md and cousin just south of D.C. as well. About 5 to 10 minutes south of Marine Memorial in Annadale. Frederick for Maryland is a neat town...but think I'm better suited for Virginiava side of the dc beltway
