Maryland beats Connecticut

Interesting that Purdue takes Maryland down to the wire and then Maryland beats perennial powerhouse Connecticut. Nice to see WBB winning games and being competitive again.

One unreal stat, and it's what decided the game, UConn had an uncharacteristic 21 TOs, Maryland had an unreal 5 TOs total for the whole game.......UM got outshot by 10%, outrebounded by 22 and still squeaked out the victory

Why yes UCONN is down a number of players including most of their primary ballhandlers which is why Maryland was able to pull out the win. But of their 7 remaining players - 4 of them are former McDonald's All Americans. Purdue has *check notes* - 0 MDAA's - on their roster. It speaks more to the power that is UCONN. Their starting PG is an unknown freshman they had to pick up following Buecker's injury. Maryland is a top 3-4 B10 team and is easily in the tournament. We should've beat them which sucks but Maryland is talented.

I'd bet a paycheck Maryland doesn't end up in the three in the conference this year, they are starting to slip due to the turnstile of players leaving the program finally catching up to them.

All of our players are roughly equivalent in recruit rankings, but if we lost Layden, Terry, Woltman and Learn, how many teams we have faced this year would we have beaten?

3 UConn starters are out. Including their starting back court. So it’d be like playing without terry, Layden Ellis and woltman. But they still have 4 5 star all Americans an experience transfer and a highly touted Canadian who would’ve been an all American had she been from the US. Even with their losses, they still have way more talent than purdue does. But no team can survive having your 3 best guards out against a good team on the road.

OSU, IU, Iowa Maryland and Michigan (who just lost to Toledo at home) are top 5 in the league currently.
