Malik Ondigo has us in his final 5

Surely we must be the favorite for him

Landry, Jajuan, AJ, Swanigan, Haas - thats one hell of an NBA pipeline stretching back to the start of Matt Painter's decade-plus Purdue career.

If you are a C or FC who can be a regular starter at Purdue, you are going to get an NBA contract

I like our chances. From visits, etc, and because he's playing in the North East, I believe our biggest competition may be Boston College. Their coach just visited him this week. I see Haarms and Epperson as more of a 4 and see Odigo as more of a 5 who playing with Haas for a year or redshirting, could become a great center for Purdue.

And because we have Haarms, I almost prefer Odigo over Epperson.

I didn't know Haas was going to the NBA

I think we have a great chance with him....he knows we need him potentially next year if injury comes into play at the 5 and with Taylor/Haas getting most of the minutes next year at the 5, Scooby can redshirt or learn on the fly if an injury occurs.

I actually think Colorado is our biggest concern......

I hope he chooses his best fit and does well....good young man.

Boiler Up!

I would be shocked if he at least doesn't get a look. If for no other reason he can set a heck of a pick.
There are teams in the NBA that believe a traditional center will be needed, even as just a 9th or 10th player on the bench. Haas will make an NBA roster because of his adeptness to drawing fouls and ability to then hit a high percentage of those foul shots (71%). Because of his ability to consistently hit free throws, an NBA scout, GM, or coach may see a potential in getting him to hit a 10-15 foot jumper consistently enough to draw bigs away from the basket while also maintaining a strong interior presence. That potential alone could draw him a nice long career in the NBA, even in today's game that seems to be transitioning more away from 'traditional' centers.

I would agree with Johnny Doe Boiler. I read two articles about busts in the NBA. Most of these guys were terrible, but because they played center, they still had an 8-10 year NBA career.

as a Bucks fan, I remember ZaZa quite well. He's terrible, yet he is a fan favorite and almost became an starter. the same could be said of many other tall, slow guys who seem to just take up space on NBA rosters and sit at the end of the bench.

And didn't that Purdue reserve center who transferred to De Paul still find a job waiting for him in a Euro league?

Sandi Marcius, playing for Caceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad, last I heard.

so I would believe Haas will be ale to find a job without too much problem. Will he be drafted by the NBA ? I'm not sure.

Colorado has mountains.

I really doubt he will be drafted, unless he blows up his senior year. He's too slow to play in the NBA

If Hammond is in the DLeague right now Haas won't sniff the NBA anytime soon. Maybe if he develops a few years in the DLeague and becomes quicker and gets a better touch

I believe our best recruiting tool is to just go out there and win the next two games. if Nevada can't beat Iowa St, then he'll lose interest quickly. the same goes for Purdue. the best way to win him over his other 4 choices is to become a sweet 16 team. Winning compensates for a lot of things.

I believe we are all biased and believe Purdue is the best place for him to develop. and it would be great to have a twin towers of Haams and Ondigo in two years.

the best way to make that happen is to take care of business this weekend. Sort of like: win two and get one.

I think he will have a monster senior year. Or maybe I'm really hoping he does, but he's improved throughout his career, no reason he'd stop now. Just getting more confidence would go a long way.

He has a good motor and would create no issues, I think he'll be a back of the bench, fan favorite NBA guy when all in said and done. Not a bad gig for about 8 mil a year.

Haas is Hollywood bound....he will have a average NBA career but will be in some movies to help the career along......too charismatic to not be in some films.

His size, skills, looks and personality...he can and will do whatever he wants.

This.... Haas needs to develop a shot beyond 3 feet. If he wants an NBA career, he better learn how to stretch the D over the summer.

Draftexpress has Haas as a mid 2nd round pick

I am constantly amazed by the negativity of some fans who consistently underrate our own players

I will bet my sig against Wolegib, BoilerFan#35, cprh9u that Haas will get an NBA contract

I'm the guy who said that despite how bad he may be that he'd still get an NBA deal and probably play for 8-10 years. Even Marcius got a pro contract.

I mean Hammond was a lot more talented and he is in the DLeague right now. Haas could get a contract if he could become a shot blocker but he surely isn't there yet

I have to believe Odigo liked what he saw last night! I am wondering as he was watching, if he was rooting for us like we were, and saying to those around him, that's my team, and where I'm going to be next year! And if his heart was beating as hard as as ours. And screaming YES at the end of the game. Official visits are great as are reading academic catalogs, and basketball history books. But winning emotional games have a way of also winning over recruits.

I wonder what Jjj and Epperson are thinking tonight. Man that could have been me.

MSU is still alive and will be playing Kansas. I bet JJJ and Tillman are more interested in that game and seeing their future teammates play. Purdue should still be very good next year, hopefully Ondigo sees the potential of next years team and his roll in the future and signs up. If hoops is priority number one, Purdue should be a top end destination for the next few years. They have set themselves up nicely. Keep putting people in the NBA, having players in the NPOY race, making deep tournament runs, and the talent will follow. A decent year so far, but at the beginning of the season most Purdue fans expected the Bg Ten title and atleast a Sweet 16 run. Not satisfied yet.
