We just signed a nice looking JUCO, who looks to be really nice return man. Hazell must have sold him on the fact that we average 7.2 kickoff returns a game.

This class is promising. I hope we hold onto all of them.

I don't really see it. A few guys with Cincy and Iowa St offers. A DT who has a few decent (and by that I mean P5) offers.

As it stands right now, and yes it's early, I really don't think the talent level in this class is anything different from Hazell's previous classes.

It certainly doesn't help that some of his previous recruits with impressive offers, Robinson and Cooper, seem to be close to flatlining. I think Purdue will have less talent than about 75-80% of the teams they play this year. Pair that with uncreative and vanilla game planning/coaching and you get what Purdue has done the last 3 years, 1-3 wins a season.

People will say that Robinson and Etling are our continuation of the 4 star curse we have. That goes all the way back to Tiller. I guess the good thing is these are 3 star recruits we are getting.

I look at offers. I'll always take the P5 coaches making millions opinions of a player over a website who's staff has far less experience evaluating players.

I don't care if a player is a 3 star. If he has offers to Ball St, Army and Old Dominion I think the chances he becomes an impact player at the Big Ten level are poor (note that I don't say impossible).

I might be a little more optimistic if someone like Tiller (who I think had a great eye for evaluating talent) was offering a guy with a couple of mid major offers but Hazell? He can't even evaluate who his starting quarterback should be every season or determine that John Shoop is a terrible OC in less the 3 years. I have a hard time believing he knows better than the majority of P5 coaches who aren't offering these players.

I watched a clip of BTN's IU visit tonight. When asked what stood out, the first thing mentioned was Coy Cronk and his upside. Our coaches passed on him (This when we have a big need at OL), but went after Jackson Anthrop. The 2017 class is going to be about as underwhelming as the last 2-3. It should be no surprise to see the results we see week after week during the season.
