I know there's a thread about him at the top of KHC. I don't really need to know it's contents. He's a 4 * SF with a lot of prime time offers and Purdue gave him one two weeks ago. And he made an unofficial visit to Purdue. He'd be a great addition. Enough said about his skills.

My reason for posting? In doing some research, I noticed he switched schools last year and is now playing at a Christian Academy in Kansas. in so doing, he also changed his recruiting year classification from 2018 to 2019. I was wondering how a player can do that? by doing so, I thought he could still only play 4 years of high school ball. Would he have one year at school where he wouldn't be playing?

I was also wondering, if he saw an opportunity and college he really liked, by attending an academy, could he take some Summer classes and change his classification back to 2018? or possibly leave early become a mid year addition and count towards a 2018 scholarship much like Haarms?

I'm just curious how a reclassification works when the player goes back a year rather than forward. This seems the opposite of Tyger.

Players can delay entry into college and they do that for varying reasons. David Teague went to a prep school for a year before Purdue since Purdue did not have an open scholarship.

I don't know what Knucklehead has about Malik, but his team was at a tournament yesterday at Bishop Noll. I think it continues today.

if a player is at a prep school...... Can that player play more than 4 years at that prep school? and if he did so, would that year count against his college years? Isn't that one of the reasons Haarms enrolled early because if he didn't, he'd only have 3 years of eligibility?

I know some prep schools used to be able play both high schools and juco or division 3 or NAIA schools

Yes, players can play more than 4 HS years at some prep schools, but that is why they usually don't qualify for state tournaments and post season awards, ala Lalu.

Whether Haarms came to Purdue early or not he was going to have 4 years of eligibility. He was just going to lose his redshirt year.

I'm pretty sure Haarms problem was more about playing for an overseas club team than for how long he was in high school.

And then he heard the Call to Haarms....
