Just this afternoon, I received an email from Purdue with some updated info about the Mackey reseat. I trust that many of my fellow JPC/season ticket holders got the same thing. There is one significant change that was not previously disclosed (to the best of my recollection).
I presently have seats in row 6 of the upper arena, which is conveniently located right on the railing above an entrance. These bottom six rows of the upper arena are known as "Upper Preferred" seats, which cost an extra $125/ticket (I think) vs. the standard upper arena ticket. From the diagram that was sent in today's email, it appears the "upper preferred" seating now extends much higher. The diagram isn't detailed enough to tell just how far it goes, but if it is to scale, I would estimate Upper Preferred now goes through at least Row 10 of the upper level, perhaps higher. Furthermore, you now have to be at the All-American level of the JPC to purchase Upper Preferred seats. So in my case (MVP level JPC member), not only does the Upper Preferred section go several rows higher than it used to, but that tier of tickets is no longer even available to me.
I'm always glad to have a packed Mackey, and I wouldn't trade this for those dismal years late in Coach Keady's tenure when we barely got 9k in the building, but for the people who sat through those years thinking we'd eventually be rewarded for our loyalty, it's not really panning out that way.
