a loss to NOVA today wouldn't hurt purdue that much. a loss to WKU costs Purdue a seed line.

foul when you are up 3 at the end of regulation against Tennessee and this doesn't happen.

those in game decisions have to be made by this staff.

I don’t see a well coached team. I see talent but not well prepared talent

I ate plenty of turkey, caught the last 8 minutes of the second half. When this board loses it about Purdue’s seed in March and gets criticized for its non conference record I will think back to poor coaching at the end of the game against Tennessee

I don't see Talent nor do I see a well-coached team. Ask yourself take Carson Edwards out of the equation would anybody on this Purdue team get any playing time for any of the Blue Bloods. The answer would be they would even make their team

Oh this team blew any chance of an NCAA appearance with the way they performed against two vastly inferior teams. You look at the way Swan played it was pure anger. He went out there to destroy people on a mission. That's the attitude it takes to win. Whereas these bunch of guys we got this year went out there the entire game and hardly competed from the start. It's almost like they decided to lose this game before it ever began. I can see mistakes. Even making the same mistake a few times over, but to sit there and look just soooo bad on defense and I mean baddd because WKU made half their shots right under the basket. With that said Purdue missed 20 three point shots. Most of WKU's shots were high percentage while most of Purdue's were just flabbergastingly bad low percentage shots from outside wayyyy outside the arch in many cases. How did they think they were going to win that way? Haas was 7-8 inside. Against a team with 8 players that should have been the game plan all night. Attacking straight inside drawing fouls especially after yesterday. Instead they took low percentage all night mostly and looked like they hardly cared. Did they not know what a loss meant today? That may have killed any chance at NCAA.

I'm not sure I see a lot of athletic talent. PJ, Cline, Mathias, Haas - these are not great athletes. Good kids and decent basketball players - yes. But when they have to play quick, strong athletes something has to give.

Biggie covered up the shortcomings for these fellows, until you run into a Kansas and then even Biggie can't cover up the athletic differential.

I don’t disagree with being upset, but “losing a seed line” is pretty much ridiculous. I mean, you’re basically saying if Purdue finishes 2nd in the Big and otherwise has a season deserving of a 5 seed, the Committee is going to say “well, remember those 2 games in Atlantis, we probably need to bump them down a line”. Personally I don’t think these are bad losses. They might be slightly inferior teams, but it’s not like they’re at the bottom of D1.

Not putting a knock on biggie cuz I think he's a hell of a player but the only reason why he covered up for everybody last year cuz the Big Ten sucked last year too. Last year and this year has to be the weakest I've seen the Big Ten in quite some time

My opinion of this team and Painter is unchanged.

Very solid and experienced team that should have one loss right now (Villanova).

Painter himself seems like an excellent coach to prepare a team and awful at adjusting when the game plan isn’t working. Two games in a row the opponent has had someone go off in the second half without Painter doing anything to counter that.

I don’t think these are awful losses by any means. Just the reality of how thow committee looks at teams whole body of work. Purdue just crapped the bed against two out of conference opponents on a neutral court.

Absolutely. Bigs was the one guy we got as a 5star and that was enough single handedly to carry the rest of these guys. We need to get a 5star guy every year to be able to dance with a blueblood team. We just cannot take these 3star guys whom are merely just good basketball players that lack athleticism. WKU has 1 3star guy and the rest zero star recruits. WKU took zero star recruits largely and upended Purdue in blistering fashion just with athleticism without talent. All WKU did was take exactly what Purdue gave them and not make mistakes. The below average athleticism of WKU ran over Purdue's 4 star roster of mostly good players basketball wise, but lack considerably athletic wise by comparison. It shows Painter's recruiting philosophy is lacking realistic approach. Nobody can tell me in the state of Indiana Purdue cannot recruit any better than that.

ok, let's say Purdue finds a way to get back in the top 25. Rather than beating MSU for a 1 seed, they will need to beat MSU just to get back into the top 25. And if they do, that would basically be a 6 seed. before this tournament, we were talking about being a 3 seed or 4 at worst. now we are in the 6-7 range. I would say as the original poster called it, that's dropping at least one seed line.

the problem is look at Purdue future games. They could still win 20+ games. But beating teams like minn, NW, OSU, and IU isn't going to raise their overall standing. And the y are going to need wins over Butler, Louisville AND MSU just to get back in the top 20. I didn't say OR, I said AND !!!!! Do you believe Purdue can beat all three of those teams? and that's just to get back to the top 20 and a #5 seed.

The problem is these non-conferenece games DO count. look at Michigan last year. they won the BIG 10 tourney and got what? a 7th seed? or was it less?

I still have confidence this team can beat ranked teams. but yo u are kidding yourself if you believe this team after these two losses to unranked teams will be anything better than a 6th seed. losing to WKU today was a worse loss than losing to Iowa last year. And unfortunately, as NCAA seeding goes, it will have a much greater impact.

It's also time for posters to stop calling other posters trolls. that's a name from the 70's. I expect more originality from Purdue posters than copying terms I used as a student. All you receive from calling people trolls is a bunch of I told you sos!

Okie dokie skip. Noted

Crow pie is a delicacy in the Bahamas. I know a team who was served a lot of it today!

I agree that we are likely looking at a 6-7 seed in the NCAAS now, barring us winning out in non-conference and going 14-4 or better in conference.

U really one negative dude and I’m sure you been waiting to say I told you so. Your might wanna be careful what you say. I no how good my son is and better enjoy him now won’t be here long. 6 games into the season ppl wanna throw the team under the bus. No don’t look to appealing right now but I’m sure there will be some adjustments at some point. I no my son can play for a blue blood team so b4 u say something you only think you no 6 games into the season things can be fixed hopefully that happens. Don’t insult kids you wouldn’t want ppl to insult ur kids.

WKU site publisher here. Just wanted to point out that every player on the WKU roster aside from #21 freshman guard Jake Ohmer (who was a KY high school baller) was a 3-star or above recruit.

You guys will win your fair share of games. It is still early in the season with a lot of basketball left to play. WKU basketball is much better than they have been in the last few years. Even with only 8 players active. The Tops have two 4-star players still waiting for NCAA clearance to play this season.

You may have a talented team, but with only 8 players, Purdue should have used a totally different game plan to take it inside, force a foul, and take two of your players out of the game, and worn down the rest of your team, or at least made you ease up on defense.

We will be 4-4 after next Tuesday; let that sink in. Do you also think we beat Sparty at East Lansing and Minnesota twice? CMP has to come with a better strategy for his personal. Slow Center that csnt reboubd, undersized power forward and undersized guards. WKU just too it to us and he had no answer. Pathetic

Mrs. Reed: this is what happens when Purdue loses. All of the negative posters will start saying "I told you so" and "Fire Painter" and they will blame the refs, and find all the little faults with each player.

Stuff like, we love PJ, but because of his lack of height, he's never going to be able to prevent a last second three from happening, as they will just shoot it right over him despite how well he attempts to play defense. or they'll say, a point guard with only 1 assist?

or you'll see, man oh man, Cline was a Gatorade 3 point champion. Why can't he make a shot in a game when it matters?

A frequent post from the past 4 years, V Edwards disappeared again. or Haas is a turnover machine.

And rather than coming from trolls, those type of posts come from the Purdue posters. And then you will see posts made from Purdue posters you've never heard from before. They only post after a loss. And yes the posts are ugly. and yes, they are very critical and personal. But we live in a sports society where criticizing high school athletes is the norm. Every elite player has national publications and scouts criticizing high school juniors and publishing those criticisms on their national sites. and posters cut and paste as if they were their personal evaluations seeking cred. This forum is full of AAU coaches, players, and people who know everything about sports. So why would you expect them to be any different than the national scouting services? We live in a society where people criticize Trump for wearing pants that didn't match his sports coat and for his Make America Great hats made in China. Hillary has to be the most talked about and criticized loser, ever. Goldwater, Humphrey, Romney, Gore, and McGovern combined received about 1% of the hate/criticism Hillary receives even after she lost. That's what America has become. We find fault in others and even more when they're down.

the more losses Purdue has, the more posts that will be made. I'm a veteran of three different Purdue forums, and was suspended from one for a period of time because of my negativity towards Hazell. You may have noticed, our board has gotten so ugly, that a recent thread about LaVar Ball was locked. This site moderator hasn't locked a thread in a very long time. I've seen a lot worse, and I've seen better. But, what should be clear is that there will be a lot of posters who only show up after losses, and a lot of posters who will show up around tourney time. it's like they take 3 months off, and then start criticizing in every post. Our fans are a lot worse and a lot more critical than our trolls.

I'm kind of glad my son was never good enough to be an elite basketball player. He hated the criticism he received from fans in his local high school. His team nave made it to the Illinois state championship. He gets enough criticism now from his coaches as a track athlete. His season starts 10 December. This could be his best season ever. although there will be always somebody looking for fault and hoping he will fail.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
