Looks like we get Arizona State on a neutral floor next year

That gives us ASU and Notre Dame on neutral floors. I can't remember what holiday event we're doing but I remember the field wasn't all that impressive. We also probably are due a home game in the ACC Challenge but aren't guaranteed one.
The Thanksgiving tournament is in Mexico and it is pretty weak field (Utah State, Auburn and Texas Tech). Not terrible, but certainly not top 25 kind of teams.

Expect another year with nada RPI top 50 opponent on the nonconference schedule.. and another 5 seed in the tourney.

I want Duke or UNC in B1G vs ACC challenge. We have pummeled the ACCs mid and lower level teams for a while now. Bring on the big dogs.

Now we just need to play Rutgers on a weekend and I'll get to go to 2 regular season games and the tournament next year.

Last time we played Duke, they played a helluva game. The ACC has other strong teams outside of Duke/UNC.

Dang FDB, you're getting in early "work" for the 2016-17 season.

Haven't seen any projections for 2016, but I wouldn't be surprised to see UNC/Indiana in Bloomington despite the recent NCAA tournament game. If you just looked at the final standings, you would think Purdue has a decent shot to see either UVA, Duke, Miami, or Louisville. It will be interesting, though because this year, only Duke of those teams played a home game. Maryland, Purdue, and Wisconsin "should" also be getting home games......perhaps UVA or Miami hosts Michigan State and Purdue hosts Duke in one possible scenario. Looks like it will be one of the Boilers better non-conference match-ups.

Purdue's last loss in the series was to Duke at home in 2008....looked like a really good match-up that quite candidly didn't amount to much of a game in the end.

Not sure how to take that. Am I wrong? I was more optimistic about this year's schedule with Florida/Vandy/Butler/Pitt, which turned out to be a negative on selection sunday.

Hopeful but not holding my breath on the ACC match-up. We got Duke the year after winning the B1G. Other than that we've seen the likes of Va Tech, Clemson, Wake Forest, Pitt, Miami, NC State.. Good teams but 50/50 chance of them being quality from year to year.

Just giving you some "good-natured" ribbing.....no malice intended. If I didn't do it, someone else probably would have.

Candidly, I agree that this year's schedule looked more promising than the year before......and it turned out less than stellar with Vanderbilt and Butler not having great seasons, although they did make the NCAA field. Also thought Pitt might do a little better as well. But maybe that says more about the Boilers than some or all of us would like to admit. What I would like to see less of are the very low-ranked teams......doesn't help the metrics no matter how large the score differential or how well the team "looks" in doing it.

Gotcha. And completely agree with your last statement. If you can't schedule enough big boys at least avoid those 300+ RPI teams from conferences like the Southland, SWAC, MEAC. There are plenty of middling MAC and Horizon programs around to fill out a schedule.

I think last year we had to play two of them because of the tournament we were in. They scheduled two home games for us. One was Vermont which wasn't terrible but the other one was North Carolina A&T. I believe whatever tournament we are in this year has a similar arrangement where they will provide two smaller teams for us to be played in Mackey.

You are correct. The other teams for the Cancun Challenge haven't been announced yet. But considering who we might play in Mexico (Utah St, Auburn, Texas Tech) don't expect the 2 in Mackey to be very good teams. I just hope they aren't REALLY bad.

True. And actually our NCSOS was not bad this year.. middle of the pack in the B1G. Much better than years past. Which is why the emphasis on Top 50 wins (as arbitrary as the number 50 is) stung.

Maybe one of them could be "secret" like "Dayton".......errrrrr I mean one of those schools from another State......and not really count.

I'm hoping Purdue is more talented than Arizona State. ASU will have a good PG though: Shannon Evans (transferred from Buffalo to follow Hurley to ASU. The Boilers need to pay them back for the non-conference loss in 2002, haha.

Hurley is recruiting pretty well out there, got 2 - 4 stars and 1 - 3 star coming in.
