For those of you on here that live in Tippecanoe County or the greater Lafayette area, how good do you think Robert Phinisee can be? Is he worthy of a scholarship? I don't know that much about him, so I'm interested in reading your takes.

I can only tell you what I saw in the State Finals on TV, since I don't live in the Laf. area. But the kid is a BALL HAWK and always seems to make the correct decision with the ball. His outside shooting looked REAL sketchy, as if that were a known concern. Shore that up and I would predict a great future for the lad. As it stands now, I just cannot stop thinking of him as a solid Butler get. Just my (very unprofessional) take.

Is CMP changing his recruiting strategy? I can't remember us giving out that many offers for 1 class.

Same strategy I think....Put out offers to gauge interest to see specifically where staff should spend the most of the precious resource......time.

From an assistant coach at another local high school, he believes Phinisee will eventually become a top mid-west recruit while garnering some attention from coaches outside the Midwest with ties to the region (Cal for example). If he can grow another 2 inches and improve his jump shot, no reason to think he can't become a 4 star player around the 50-75 range in the rivals rating system.

I believe he's already ranked as a 4 star and the 70th overall recruit on Scout

Are you the same poster who was ALL OVER signing Desmond Bane? I think you are. If not, I apologize, but OMFG ... "WORTHY of a scholarship???"

OK, I had some good bourbon and hot sex .... so, YES, he is WORTHY of a scholarship. "WORTHY????" wow..... great word. Is anyone in the top 100 WORTHY of playing for Purdue? If Desmond Bane MUST be signed, well .... then yes .... Phinesee is WORTHY!

They play two different positions, so that makes a difference in how valuable they are or are not at that spot and for that scholarship. That's why I used the word "worthy". You're pretty fired up about this, aren't you?

Oh hell, I'm sorry. I did forget that we are desperate to get a 2-star SG but have no need for a 4-star PG. Unl;ess they are INCREDIBLY WORTHY ... totally missed that.

Wait a minute ... hold on .... hmmm ... aren't you the poster that keeps saying that Painter can't get good PGs to come here? I think you are. Some of this is not making sense to me.

1st time poster long time follower. Totally respect both of you guys and love following opinions, but no need to get upset over a local kid being "worthy." That will always be a question, is he being recruited for proximity because he moves the needle locally, or because he has the talent to bring Purdue a title. I know guys who have played with Rob since he was a middle schooler and said he belongs D1, that was 3 yrs ago. These guys played D1 or had offers. To me he looks like a phenomenal prospect, definitely not a finished product. Theres no doubting pg (4yr) havent flourished in painters offense with the exception of Lewjack, but painter has shown a willingness to adapt to his players which is also overlooked by fans. I think something to look for is this coaching staff going hard after guards, which they have stated they need badly publicly, while banking on getting bigs with their recent success. Every good big will give them a look with the stats that they feed bigs better than anyone in the country. To me purdue doesnt move forward until we get good guards and it starts with pulling kids from our back yard. Would love to hear OB52 opinion on a fit with Rob and purdue since hes a McCuthceon guy. Damn that was exhausting.......

He is a 3 star and currently is not ranked. That is what his current rivals profile shows. I am guessing that will improve as he will be one of the top 5 players in Indiana next year and that usually gets a top 150 nod lost years. Given that he is also a PG and he will be scoring tons of points this upcoming year as McCutcheon loses a decent amount of scoring, I think the bump to the 50-75 range is more than generous.
