Cal 2006

Purdue was 4th among others receiving votes this year.

I initially wondered the same thing, too, especially if coaches and media associated with the SEC would intentionally leave Purdue off their ballots. But, Purdue's position in the polls didn't really change relative to other bowl winners. So, I don't think so. Or, the impact was minimal.
