Ah, yes. Jimmy "Four Heismans" Clausen. He holds a special place in the ND pantheon of overhype--along with Charlie "decided schematic advantage" Weiss.

Brady Quinn was a good quarterback, though. He reminded me a lot of Kyle Orton.

Plus Orton was a major skank magnet compared to Quinn

I would submit that there was/is quite a difference between the two...

They were nothing alike. Brady had a dogshit arm. Orton had a cannon.

Tiller told me a story about a QB camp at Purdue Orton attended when he was in high school. At the end they had a contest to see who could throw the farthest. Orton won including beating Joe Kitna who was working the camp.

As a bengal fan, i can verify that Kitna had a bad arm too

He reminded me nothing of orton in terms of style but Quinn seems to be a decent person. A ty willingham guy, classy.

Quinn didnt have the arm to throw a 15 yard out in the pros. That was why he quickly washed out. Wet noodle.

Quinn reminded me more of Heath Shuler.

Rick Mirer had a similar defect. Remarkably Mirer invested his 2nd round money wisely and is now worth north of $20 mil owning a Napa Vinyard

Was that the issue with him? I remember him going high, but never saw Seattle games.

I sat next to Orton’s girlfriend in my Econ 217 class in 2003.
She was in a certain gentleman’s publication that Fall as well.
I think he had a steady girlfriend towards the end and was even engaged to get married. Then I also saw he was engaged to somebody else when he was playing in the NFL and who knows if even pull that one off.
