Think Purdue will make a serious push or is it all rumors with these Alabama asst. following where he goes?

Did miles say anything of substance Saturday, give any hint of a destination?

Thought I Briefly Saw him in the booth of a game, and said something about adapting offenses
But that is all I heard

I think with LSU losing to Florida, Miles staff could very well be:

HC: Miles
OC: Sarkisian
DC: not here honestly but his old DC from LSU will be looking for a job
DL/Associate HC: Orgeron

If that's what Miles can put together and MBob can get them to come to Purdue...Suddenly Purdue looks to have one of the better staffs in the Big West..and one that could really rebuild the program.

Maybe Bo Pelini will come back to BIG Ten as DC. I don't think being HC at FCS school is going to get him noticed by anyone.

Ehhhhh, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take over at a place like Ohio (Bobcats) where Frank Solich has been forever since being fired from Nebraska (hmmm, maybe Ohio can make their name by signing former Nebraska HC's). Pelini was a good coach but usually when a P5 coach leaves in the toxic manner that it appeared to be at Nebraska, there needs to be some time before the furnace has cooled enough for him to get a sniff again. He is coaching in the MVC which is the best FCS conference in the country and getting that program to 8-9 wins per year is good enough for him to get a sniff again...at least at a group of 5 team.

If we somehow got Les at HC and Bo as DC, I would be pretty damn insanely fukking happy.

Talk about having a sideline full of fire and heavy-hitters. Les eating grass and Bo chopping off heads.

"The Furnace" would be raging. And Purdue would be INSTANTLY legit.

The only hint I saw was when he spontaneously yelled "IU SUCKS"

and Sark as OC.

I know it's been floating around but why would Purdue announce before the game? It's @ IU.

It could be in the morning and get big GameDay press. WMU's last regular season game is Friday night....

Even if that were true...so many big rivalry games going on, it'd just be lost in all the talk. Also, Fleck isn't leaving until after their bowl game (if he does).

I'd be shocked if whoever we hire stays for his team's bowl game. Not with what we are going to pay.

Tiller was hired the Sunday after the Bucket game in 1996 but still coached Wyoming in a Bowl game in December. This situation could happen again this fall.

And I have no issue with this, Hazell coaching the bowl game isn't why he failed at Purdue
And has been said a number of times, December is mostly a dead period for recruiting other than Juco's. If a coach can't multi-task a bit and contact interested candidates for his staff while getting a team ready for a bowl game for a number of weeks....he isn't going to be successful running the program.

Wyoming records don't show a bowl appearance in 1996, either the year is off or their records are!

I agree JDB but we're gonna need some Juco's. Might be a great time for a big name coach to get the best of them to Purdue.

Except every year there are teams being coached by an assistant in bowl games because their coach got a better gig, right? I'd rather have him start building a staff.

Wyoming lost WAC title game, which Tiller coached in the first week if December, to Air Force. In 1996 there were significantly less bowl games so Wyoming was not selected.
