It sounds preposterous. Drumbeat is getting louder in Central Indiana. I can't fathom why he would want to do it.
I once heard Larry Brown say that he absolutely wanted to finish his coaching career as a high school coach somewhere. I can't believe GK would give up South Carolina winters for Indy winters again.

Certainly this has wild internet rumor run amuck all over it... - - has anyone heard anything else?

Not sure he could recruit well enough for Park Tudor. :D

The only reason I am skeptical is because he turns 80 in May. What school hires an 80 year old coach for an open high school position and what 80 year old wants to go through that? Well, Gene Keady is a possible answer to the 2nd half of the question. I can believe he would want to coach again at 80. I just can't see a big time high school program bringing in someone at that age to coach them but maybe they are just seeking someone reputable to come in for a year or two on the heels of the scandal they just had/are having.

I don't see it. He's carved out a pretty good niche for himself in MB playing golf and consulting with the Coastal Carolina coaches and a local HS. Move to the Indy area for a HS gig and give that up??? As one approaching retirement I can't see the incentive to do so.

The pay is outstanding from what I hear. The previous coach was an assistant AD getting paid damn near 100k a year.

Wow. I guess outstanding is relative. For Keady, that would be nearly a volunteer position. On the other hand, that sounds like a lot of money for any school, private or not, to pay for a coach.

Logansport has a girls bball coach who is upwards of 80 I believe. He applied for the open position at Harrison High School here in West Lafayette as well.

Don't have any idea about the current situation, but I have heard Keady say one more than one occasion in the past couple of years that if anyone is looking for an old coach, give him a call, he still has the desire to coach.

If he takes the job, I think it would be as a matter of personal interest versus professional. Basketball at the high school level is the purest form of teaching the game, growing players, and is not corrupted by the commercialization of the NCAA and NBA.

The girls coach at Logan that you are referring to has been gone for 2 seasons. He may want another gig, but whether he gets hired is another story.

Why did CGK resign / get fired from Purdue? I was in my middle teens when this happened and cant remember what happened. Was it because he had started to lose more games later in his career?

This is a serious question and in no way a troll attempt!

Growing up, ESPN used to love to hype the Knight vs Keady matchup more than the Indiana vs Purdue matchup.

I might be the only one here who truly misses those couple of decades. That really was the last time before this year where we were both good teams at the same time.
